Introduction
Wearing the All Saints Uniform
The All Saints uniform promotes a sense of belonging and a positive identity for our school community. Every student holds the responsibility to wear their uniform correctly and be well presented at all times.
Students’ uniforms must be clean, neatly presented and fit the student well. Uniform items that are stained, ripped, too small or too baggy are not appropriate.
Uniform Types
The required formal, day and sport uniform items are listed by sub-school, in the following pages of this brochure.
Students from Years 1 to 12 must wear their day uniform to school each day, except on sport days. Sport uniform days vary depending on year level and will be advised at the start of the school year. Pre Prep and Prep students wear the sports uniform every day.
Year 10 to 12 students with elective Health and Physical Education (HPE) lessons on non-sport days are expected to arrive in their day uniform and change into their sports uniform for the HPE lesson only.
The formal uniform will be required for various occasions throughout the school year and students will be advised when this uniform is required.
Day and Formal Uniform
Boys
• Day shirts are to be worn neatly, tucked in at all times and with the top button undone.
• Day shorts are to be worn just above the knee and sit on the waist. Trousers are available for Senior School students only.
• Senior School boys must wear a plain black leather belt (with silver buckle) with their day shorts. In Middle School boys may choose between two different style shorts. A plain black leather belt (with silver buckle) must be worn with the belt loop short. Belts are available from the All Saints Shop.
• All Saints boys’ knee-high day socks are compulsory when wearing day shorts and must be worn pulled up at all times. Plain navy socks are to be worn with Senior School trousers.
• Senior School boys must wear an All Saints’ tie with their formal uniform. The top button of the formal shirt is to be buttoned up when wearing a tie.
Girls
• Day skirts and dresses must be worn on or below the knee. The Senior School skirt is to sit on the waist. Ladies’ trousers are also available in the Senior School.
• Junior School girls must always wear the All Saints bow with the Junior School day dress.
• Middle School girls must always wear the All Saints scarf with the Middle School day dress.
• Senior School girls must always wear the All Saints badge with their day shirt.
• All Saints girls’ day socks are compulsory (unless wearing tights or stockings ) and should be folded down once at the ankle.
• In the Junior and Middle School, opaque navy tights (70 denire) may be worn in Terms 2 and 3.
• In Senior School, navy stockings may be worn throughout the year as part of the formal uniform.
• Plain navy socks are to be worn with Senior School ladies’ trousers.
Formal Uniform
The formal uniform is made up of the day uniform plus:
• Blazers, ties and trousers for Senior boys
• Blazers and stockings (or trousers) for Senior girls
• Ties for Middle School boys involved in Performing Arts and/or debating programs
Jumpers
In cool weather, Junior and Middle students may wear a school day jacket or pullover with their uniform. Senior School students have the option of wearing a pullover and/or their blazer. Clothing items worn under the uniform for added warmth should not be visible.
Blazers
School blazers are compulsory for Year 10 to 12 students, and can be worn during winter, at formal functions and when representing the School.
DayShoes
Plain black leather school shoes with hard black soles and regular heel height are compulsory with the day and formal uniforms. Skate shoes, joggers, runners, dance-style shoes or other shoe accessories are not permitted. School shoes must be worn at all times in the Home Economics area, workshop and science laboratories. Velcro and Mary Jane (girls’ buckle style) shoes are permitted in the Junior School.
Students in Prep to Year 2 may also choose to wear plain navy leather sandals in Terms 1 and 4 on nonPE days.
PrePrepFootwear
Students in Pre Prep are required to wear velcro sneakers with All Saints socks. Sneakers should be predominantly white or a color that complements the school uniform, as specified on page 4.
In Pre Prep, barefoot play is encouraged to support sensory development, so velcro shoes are essential to allow students to independently take off and put on their socks throughout the day.
Sport Uniform
SportShoes
Sports shoes must be a runner or cross trainer shoe with a non-marking sole. Runners can be white and/or colours that complement the school sport uniform (e.g. blue or navy shoes and blue or light grey trims are acceptable).
Black and fluro block coloured shoes and laces are not acceptable. Basketball boots, canvas style shoes, walk shoes and skate shoes are not appropriate for sporting activities and are not acceptable as part of our sport uniform.
All Saints spor t socks must be worn with the sport uniform. They are to be worn unfolded and pulled up over the ankle, visibly showing the ASAS emblem.
House Shirts
Colour house shirts are worn with the sport uniform on sport carnival and inter-house competition days. Students will also wear their house shirts on certain sport days. House shirt days will be advised by the School throughout the year.
Sports Jacket and Trackpants
In cooler weather, students may wear the All Saints sports jacket and/or trackpants with their sports uniform. Any clothing items worn under the uniform for added warmth should not be visible.
Specialist Uniforms
The relevant departments will advise students when a specialist All Saints uniform is required such as netball dresses, rugby gear, trainee polos, tour shirts etc. While these items may be worn for the specific sport or event for which they have been organised, they are not to be worn on regular school days with, or instead of, the school uniform.
Swimwear
At swimming carnivals and swimming during PE lessons, students must wear All Saints swimwear. There are a variety of swimmer styles available for both boys and girls. In the Junior School, school rash shirts must be worn over all swimmers.
Other Uniform Requirements
Hats
Students must wear the All Saints navy hat during breaks, lunchtime and all outdoor activities. The rule is: no hat, no play. It is a school requirement that hats are embroidered with the student’s name on the back. The embroidery is included in the cost of that hat and will be completed at the All Saints Shop at the time of purchase. If a hat is lost a replacement must be purchased from the school shop.
School Bags
The All Saints school bag is a compulsory item for every day use. School bags come in several sizes and styles to suit all ages. A school sport bag is also available.
General Presentation
HAIR
Hair must be kept clean, neat and tidy; it should be a single natural colour and the style should not be attention-seeking. Hair should be of a similar length all over; very short shaved sides and undercuts are not permitted. Hair should not come over the eyes at any time.
Male haircuts must be tidy, short and clear of the collar, ears and eyes. Hair must not be shorter than a number two blade. Undercuts and mullet hairstyles, two-tone or bleached hair are not permitted. Senior male students should maintain clean-shaven facial hair at all times.
Girls’ hair which is long enough to be secured should be tied back using All Saints navy or light blue school ribbons, scrunchies and/or clips. Large ornamental bows, flowers, hair wraps, beads, coloured or non-natural appearing hair extensions are not permitted. School hair accessories are available from the Friends of All Saints Shop and can also be purchased elsewhere if they meet the School’s colour and description requirements.
Students who do not meet these guidelines will be required to adjust their hair at their own expense. The ultimate decision on whether a haircut or style is appropriate rests with the relevant sub-school.
JEWELLERY
Jewellery is not to be worn with the school uniform. A chain with a cross is permitted (but must not be visible). Girls may wear either a plain gold or silver single stud, or a plain gold or silver single sleeper in the lobe of the ear, but no other jewellery is acceptable.
MAKEUP AND NAILS
Makeup and nail polish are not permitted at school. False eyelashes, eyebrow tattoos and other cosmetic tattoos are not allowed. Artificial nails, nail polish and fingernail decorations are also not permitted.
ACADEMIC BADGES
Students may choose to neatly display award badges on the lapels of their uniforms. In Junior and Middle School, badges may be worn on the lapel of the shirt or dress. In Senior School, badges may be worn on the lapel of the blazer, not the shirt or blouse. Only badges awarded for academic or school-related activities may be displayed on the uniform.
CULTURAL GARMENTS
Items such as turbans and hijabs may be worn for cultural reasons and should be in school colours, if possible.
Additional Information
LABELLING
It is very important students label every item that is worn or brought to school. A large proportion of property found is unnamed, not fully named or marking is unclear or worn.
Articles that are commonly found unnamed include shoes, jumpers, sports jerseys, swimwear, camp gear, pencil cases, calculators and musical equipment. Please ensure all bags, including sport bags, are also named. Some suggestions for labelling include:
• Set of labels (stick on or iron on)
• Laundry marker (may need to be redone from time to time)
• All hats are embroidered with the student’s name at time of purchase
SPARE UNIFORMS
If throughout the day an item of clothing is accidentally torn, stained or damaged to the point where it becomes unwearable, there are spare uniforms available for loan from Sick Bay. All borrowed items must be washed prior to return.
SECOND-HAND UNIFORMS
Second-hand uniforms can be purchased from, and sold to, the All Saints Shop. Uniforms bought and sold via the shop are always in excellent condition and adhere to our uniform standards.
A pre-loved uniform Facebook Group has also been set up by volunteer parents for current parents wishing to buy or sell uniforms or school-related items. However please note this group is run independently from the School and the School cannot guarantee the quality or standards of items sold on this page. The group name is ‘ASAS Preloved Uniforms’. We ask that items that are too worn, stained or ripped do not get sold on this page (free or otherwise). Uniforms sporting the old version of the school logo should also not be sold or bought on this page as these items are now out of date.
