Richard Calkins, Director of IT, City of Fort Myers
Richard Calkins is a seasoned technology leader with over 25 years of experience in IT and telecommunications. Born and raised in Northern Wisconsin, Richard has proudly called Florida home since 1998. He began his career with the City of Fort Myers as a GIS Analyst, progressing to GIS Manager, and has served as the Director of Information Technology since 2018.
Richard's tenure at the City has been marked by his commitment to advancing the city's technological infrastructure, ensuring Fort Myers remains a leader in innovation. Prior to his work with the City, he specialized in cellular optimization and RF propagation modeling at Agilent Technologies.
Richard holds a Master of Science in Geospatial Information Technology from Delta State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Geography from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He is also a Certified Government Chief Information Officer (CGCIO) and a certified GIS Professional (GISP).
