Ocean Edge Resort Review

Ocean Edge Resort Review

Ocean Edge Resort is located in Brewster, Massachusetts and is one of the most epic, family-friendly, and beautiful properties on Cape Cod. I had the pleasure of staying here during a winter weekend to get the true off-season experience. Between the overall quiet and peaceful atmosphere, there was an abundance of beauty and admiration to absorb for such a prestigious resort. I was able to enjoy a stunning library filled with books, endless fireplaces to relax by, delicious onsite dining and more. The resort conveniently offers indoor pools, private beach access, a gorgeous spa as well as a winter inter igloo dining experience at The Frost Bar to give you a well-rounded winter trip to the Cape.

Brewster, Massachusetts offers some popular activities to enjoy including Cape Cod National Seashore, hiking or biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and visiting the Brewster Historical Society as well as classic activities like fishing, boating, shopping, and dining.  There are many beaches in Brewster that are great for swimming, sunbathing, and beach-combing with a lot of great seafood restaurants and local shops in the area, as well.

The room was extremely spacious, clean, and suitable for a beautiful staycation.

They also have several options for lodging including the following:

Ocean Edge Spa

No visit to a luxury resort is complete without a full-service spa for guests to enjoy. The Ocean Edge spa is located across the street from the mansion and offers a variety of treatments such as massages, facials, and body treatments.

The spa has a variety of services that are designed to help guests relax and rejuvenate! Some of the most popular services include:

  • Massages: A variety of massage treatments such as Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, and couples massage.

  • Facials: A variety of facials that are designed to nourish and rejuvenate the skin.

  • Body Treatments: A variety of body treatments such as scrubs, wraps, and hydrotherapy.

  • Manicures and Pedicures: Offering manicures and pedicures that are designed to leave hands and feet looking and feeling great.

  • Specialty Treatments: The spa also offers specialty treatments such as reflexology, aromatherapy, and hydrotherapy.

We enjoyed a wonderful hot stone massage during our stay and I added a bit of a deep tissue massage for my neck and shoulders since I sit at my desk and type a lot. They use high-quality products and the staff is highly trained to ensure that guests have a pleasant experience. It was so relaxing and made me feel refreshed immediately after.

The spa also has a relaxation room, where guests can unwind before or after their treatments. We enjoyed a nice glass of champagne in our robes to truly enjoy the moment of peace.

Dining at Ocean Edge Resort

The Roscommon Room

The Roscommon Room at Ocean Edge Resort is a private dining room that is available for special occasions and events but is also available for daily breakfast lunch and dinner, open to the public. The room is named after the Roscommon family, the original owners of the property that became Ocean Edge Resort. It’s a sophisticated and elegant space that can seat up to 80 guests and features beautiful chandeliers, high ceilings, and large windows that offer views of the resort’s grounds and the ocean. We enjoyed breakfast here in the mornings with both sweet and savory dishes like french toast, eggs Benedict and hot cappuccinos as well as fabulous winter-themed cocktails like marshmallow espresso martinis and hot toddies in the evenings.

It’s definitely ideal for hosting events such as weddings, business meetings, and family celebrations. The venue can also be configured to accommodate a variety of event types such as a banquet, reception, or conference. The resort’s culinary team will work with you to create a customized menu that meets your specific needs and preferences. They offer a variety of options such as buffets, plated meals, and hors d’oeuvres. The Roscommon Room is also equipped with all the necessary audio-visual equipment to make your event a success!

In addition to the Roscommon Room, Ocean Edge Resort also has other venues for events such as The Lawn, The Tent and The Beach. They can accommodate a variety of event types and sizes, and the resort’s event planning team will work with you to make sure your event is a success.

Bayzo's Pub

Bayzo’s Pub is a casual spot that offers a variety of drinks and small plates. The pub is located in the main building of the resort, downstairs, and offers a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy a meal.

Here you’ll find a variety of beers, wines, and cocktails, as well as a menu of small plates and pub fare. The pub has a warm and inviting atmosphere with a fireplace and a relaxed vibe. It’s a great spot to unwind and catch up with friends after a day of activities or sightseeing!

The menu at Bayzo’s Pub includes a variety of small plates, sandwiches, and salads. Some of the popular menu items include:

  • Classic pub fare such as wings, nachos and sliders
  • Seafood options like lobster rolls, fried clams, and raw bar
  • Gourmet pizzas
  • A variety of sandwiches and salads

Winter Igloos at The Frost Bar

The Frost Bar at Ocean Edge now offers a winter wonderland with igloos and a unique dining experience. You have the ability to reserve igloos whether you’re staying at Ocean Edge or not, for 6 people or less. Each igloo is equipped with couches, pillows, blankets, small tables, a small space heater and a bluetooth speaker to play music. While the igloo has the space heater, I highly recommend dressing very warm!

During our experience we ordered the cheese and charcuterie board, raw bar which comes with a half a dozen oysters, six jumbo shrimp cocktail, fresh lobster, lemon and traditional cocktail sauce and green apple mignonette, the buffalo tater tot basket as well as some dessert and cocktails. I highly recommend the Ginger Hot Toddy and their famous Jack Frost frozen cocktail.

My Honest Review of Ocean Edge Resort

Ocean Edge Resort is one of the most iconic and well-known resorts on Cape Cod, so I was excited to visit during off-season. Cape Cod in the winter is truly a hidden gem and I always love coming here to create a safe space of pleasure and nature when all the tourists are gone. Obviously, the resort was very quiet since I visited during the winter with a few families, couples and friends here and there which made for a tranquil atmosphere. I enjoyed reading on my Kindle by the fireplace in the library, indulging in a hot stone massage at the spa, enjoying a glass of champagne and fruit in my robe in my room, walking down the private entrance to the beach to watch stunning sunsets, as well as the dining experiences at all 3 restaurants I covered.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for couples who want a high-end romantic winter getaway or a group of friends looking to relax. The resort is pricey with add-ons for dining and special activities, so even a one-night stay or a visit for the spa and Frost Bar would make for a great experience in the winter.

I think experiencing Ocean Edge during the summer when they have more activities, sunny beach days, the beach bar open, etc. will offer a more well-rounded view of the resort. While the activities they have during the winter are so lovely, I anticipate the summer really shining with all there is to do. I will have to report back once I visit!
