Re-imagining the entrance of a historic park to make it a destination in its own right.
The aim of the new design is to open up the entrance space to make it more welcoming and so invite more people to use the park.
The design encourages people to pause and utilise the entrance more. Sculptural curved benches in weathered wood provide an inviting space to sit while the rotating spiral water feature provides a focal point whilst distracting from the urban soundscape beyond the gate.
A naturalistic planting scheme provides a long season of interest while complementing the natural flora of the park.
Grasses and seedheads will be left over winter to provide visual interest as well as attracting wildlife.
