Kitchen Cabinets

We currently have honey-oak colored cabinets. I love the style, size and layout of our cabinets, but I don't like the color. So help me decide... do we stain them dark or (what I'm leaning toward!) paint them white or cream?! We have dark granite counters (mostly black with specs of brown and blue/gray), a medium-tan travernite backsplash with an inlay of blue and wine-colored glass tiles, stainless steel appliances and beige ceremaic tile floors.
