General Knowledge 101: Ramon Magsaysay-Award or renowned personality

Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay, which became household name as "RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD" after April 1957. How everyone knows him as an "award" or as a "President of Philippines"? Both are the sides of the same coin. Prior discussing about award we will dig his personal life out in a short span of time.

WHAT IS HE FAMOUS FOR:-

                                                         Motive of Award reflects the pragmatic idealism so as Ramon was. He was a man of substance. Owing to Ramon's innate strategic acumen, president "ELPIDIO QUIRINO" had left with no other choice except to authorized him as a "Secretary of Defense" to fight the communist "Hukbalahab Guerrillas" (leader name was Luis Taruc). He honed his guerrilla skills in WW-II. When WW-II had flared-up and one of Philippines' province (Bataan) capitulated by Imperial Japanese Army, Ramon magsausay escaped by the skin of his teeth from Japanese arrest and eluded to hills where he assembled the "Western Lizon Guerrilla Forces" furthermore has commissioned captain on 5 April, 1942.



WHY "IDOL OF THE MASSES":

                                                              In 1953, when Philippines' presidency was chaired by "First non-US" President, he was then called "mambo Magsaysay". In the course of his tenure, he wanted to be a common people's president and he did so. This was the sole reason why he made "Malacanang Palace" (Same as our "Rashtrapati Bhawan") as "House of Common People". No body was restricted to enter the gates. His term as a President is considered "Philippines' golden years" because in that era he had raised the Philippines' army, industry, trade and people to the level of compiled power of international reckoning. He inaugurated various schemes and policies like; NARRA, ACCFA and so on to provide succour to the rural people. He was truly a "Man of Masses".

 

RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD:

                                                               Owing to Ramon's good deeds, he had myriad number of acquaintances and admirers. Among them Rockefeller brothers, from New York City, were also exist. When Ramon had died in tragic plane crash, the trustees of the RBF had decided to initiate this award, in 1957, to privilege his glory in order that everyone could learn from his righteous and integrity towards the nation and its nationalist. Before this award was given in 6 different categories but now only one is remained active which is uncategorized. This award gives to Asian-individuals for their unprecedented work in their relative fields and also known as "Asia's Nobel prize".
