BEAVERTON, Ore. — Nike has released its plans for a 3.2 million square-foot expansion of its world headquarters outside Beaverton.
According to a news release, the expansion will "take inspiration from human movement" and will be completed in 2018.
The construction will add new office space, mixed-use space and parking facilities to the sprawling campus that opened in 1990 at One Bowerman Drive.
"Our expanding World Headquarters reflects the best of Nike's culture a place where we obsess the athlete and invent future products and experiences for consumers everywhere," Nike President and CEO Mark Parker said.
The new building designs aim to use natural daylighting, chilled beams and a closed-looped grey water treatment center, all with the goal of getting a LEED Platinum Certification.
No significant construction or expansion on the headquarters has occurred since 2001.
