Union County Jail Inmate Search, Arrests and Mugshots

Union County does not have their own jail. The Union County Jail closed in the Fall of 2020 due to the advanced age of the facility and continuously increasing operational costs. Persons arrested in Union County are transported to the Webster County Jail. The Webster County Jail is a medium security facility located in Dixon, Kentucky. The jail holds inmates who have been arrested for misdemeanor or felony charges. The county jail is co-ed, with female and male inmates separated in different pods. The inmates held at the county jail are awaiting trial, have been convicted and serving their sentence, or cannot bond out. The county jail complies with the Kentucky Jail Standards to ensure full compliance. Although Union County does not have a jail, they do have their own jailer. The current jailer, who is responsible for the transportation of persons arrested in Union County to the Webster County Jail and the transportation of offenders back to Union County for appearances in District and Circuit Courts, is Jason Newton.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive mail from their friends and family while incarcerated. All incoming mail must be addressed with the Inmate name and Inmate ID and have a return address on the envelope. All mail is opened and inspected for contraband. If contraband is found, the mail will be destroyed.

Webster County Jail allows clothing items to be sent to inmates. The inmate must fill out a property request form listing the items to be sent, and they must be approved before they are ordered. The items have to be ordered and mailed directly from a verifiable vendor, such as Amazon. County inmates may have property sent in within 14 days of booking date. Items that can be sent in include the following:

5 white short sleeve shirts (no pockets)
3 bras with no underwire
5 pairs of underwear
Work boots/tennis shoes (RCC Only)
5 pairs of socks
High visibility Winter Coat (RCC Only)
1 set of thermals

Friends and family can add money to an inmate’s commissary account online. The county jail uses a third party provider website called CareACell. An account must be made. The website accepts credit and debit cards. The other way to add money to an inmate’s account is by dropping off money at the jail. Funds for inmates can be dropped off between the hours of 7 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday. No money will be taken at any other time. After hours, money can be added to inmate accounts through the kiosks in the lobby of the detention center.

Visitation Hours

Inmates have the right to visit with their friends and family while incarcerated. Visits currently are video visits only. Inmates are allowed 1 fifteen minute visit per week. Visitors must have a valid identification card, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult. Visitation days are Saturday and Sunday. The hours for visitation for females is from 8am to 10am, visitation for males is from 1pm to 3pm, and visitation for PC inmates is from 3pm to 4pm.

The Webster County Jail has an inmate jail roster for the public to view. The roster lists all current inmates held in the jail.The jail roster lists the inmate’s full name, birth date, booking date, arresting agency, bond amount, and charges they were arrested for. Inmates can also be searched by their first and last name.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is the chief law enforcement agency located in the county. The three main responsibilities of the office include law enforcement, serving the court, and collecting county taxes. The office also completes traffic accident reports, processes concealed carry paperwork, and performs vehicle inspections. The Union County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to providing professional law enforcement services in partnership with the communities and other emergency responder agencies.
