Child Nutrition & Wellness

KIPP Texas knows that there is a link between nutrition and education. We believe that healthy children are the foundation of a healthy society and that well-nourished and physically fit children are better able to learn. Eating and exercise habits developed in childhood will affect our students’ health throughout their lives.

Child Nutrition

At KIPP Texas Public Schools, all enrolled students are provided with free nutritionally balanced meals with the nutrition necessary to fuel academic success while building lifelong healthy habits. The KIPP Texas Child Nutrition Team has adopted the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which enables eligible schools to serve free breakfast, lunch, and supper (if offered) to all students, regardless of income. A confidential Household Income Survey is completed during online registration instead of a meal application.

Menus

All meals served at KIPP Texas comply with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) regulations. A variety of options are offered daily. Students will be given all available offerings at breakfast. Running late? No problem—we have breakfast waiting for you in the cafeteria!

Students must take an item from at least three food groups at lunch.  We encourage students to take all items offered daily. You can learn more about the food groups we serve here. If your student has special dietary needs, please notify the school’s clinic staff to make arrangements with the child nutrition team.

Food Assistance

View access to food resources in your community for additional food support outside of the classroom. Resources for families include groceries, meals, pantries, food distribution drives, assistance applying for food stamps, etc.
