In october, 2010, Markus Persson (Or Notch) added the 'Nether' to the popular java game minecraft. This Nether was a hell-like world populated with zombie pigmen, and ghasts. Ghasts loosely resemble giant flying jellyfish that shoot fireballs.

On the 26th of October, 2010, minecraft forum user EvilSoup posted a thread titled 'THE "PHOTOSHOP GHASTS INTO REAL LIFE SITUATIONS" THREAD' The purpose of this thread thread was for users to post photos of catastrophic disasters with ghasts edited into them using an image editor, such as photoshop or GIMP.

However, people started to argue that some of the images were frightening, upsetting and NSFW. So just several hours after the original thread was posted minecraft forums user jefequeso posted: 'THE "PHOTOSHOP GHASTS INTO REAL LIFE SITUATIONS" THREAD NUMBER 2'
Post images here, argue in the other one. Everyone wins. -jefequeso
The original thread was soon taken down by a moderator for having the disturbing images.

The new thread, however, was closed along with the rest over the 'Halloween Update' section as it was moved to the archives. On the 9th of May 2011, minecraft forum user Gamer Stix posted '"PHOTOSHOP GHASTS INTO REAL LIFE SITUATIONS" REVIVAL!' based on the original and re-post of the thread.
