Interview With Liz Earle

Interview With Liz Earle

Posted by Becca Gray | 5 October 2017 | Beauty, Health & Fitness, Magazine, Style & Beauty
I have always been a huge fan of Liz Earle MBE, the wellbeing entrepreneur and Founder of Liz Earle Wellbeing. I religiously lived off advice given in her books like ‘Skin Secrets’ from when I was a teenager and have been a big fan ever since.

Liz launched Liz Earle Wellbeing in 2013 and uses the website and quarterly magazine to share her wellbeing wisdom with us.

I learnt in my teens after a serious illness the importance of how the food we eat pretty much affects everything to do with our bodies, from how we feel, to our general health and even how our skin looks. I was therefore intrigued to hear about Liz’s new book The Good Gut Guide, which gives a 6 week plan on how to get your gut healthy. I will be following this as soon as I get home from the madness of Fashion Week.

I regularly tell my brides-to-be and clients about the impact your diet has on your skin, so for me Liz is a massive idol as she is so knowledgeable about how what you eat impacts on your health and wellbeing.

I was so excited to hear Liz was coming to Wimbledon’s BookFest and even more excited that I was going to get to interview her!
After achieving so much in your career, from your MBE, skincare, books, videos and jewellery, what still gets you excited and keeps you motivated? What makes you move onto the next thing?
I relish the challenges of a new project and still feel in start-up mode with my latest venture Liz Earle Wellbeing! My Wellbeing website and quarterly magazine see me returning to my roots as a writer and researcher with a focus on nutrition, food and all aspects of healthy living. I live and work on an organic farm, so I’m especially keen to raise awareness of sustainable food and farming issues. I truly believe that health and wellbeing go hand-in hand with eating well – as outlined in my latest book The Good Gut Guide – and that there is more I can do to help raise awareness of the small changes we can easily make to look good and feel even better.

When life is so busy and there is always so much to do, I find it so hard to switch off and feel like I should be working the whole time, I would love to know what you do to relax and take time out?
I live on a farm in the glorious West Country so I really enjoy the chance to make the most of family time outdoors. I love picnics, farm walks, pushing children on a swing under the oak tree, playing ball with the dogs on the grass – very simple, yet special, family times that make for happy memories.

I regularly tell my clients about the importance of what you eat and how it affects your skin when they are asking me about skin care advice. If you had to give one tip about how nutrition could help what would it be?
By making one small change to your diet by adding a daily dose of probiotics – in the form of plain live yoghurt or fermented foods such as kefir and fermented vegetables – you can make a real difference to your skin – as well as your overall health and wellbeing. The secret to glowing skin is to feed it from within with the right nutrients, such as probiotics, as well as apply them topically on the surface.

I love the advice from Liz and I can’t wait to meet her on Saturday at Wimbledon BookFest! Her talk is at 3.45pm Baillie Gifford Big Tent so make sure you don’t miss it!
