Sheridan School District’s increasing student population required planning for a new high school. The design plans included keeping the existing high school open during construction, closing off a street to connect the new high school with the existing high school, and incorporation of Kohler Academy for teaching trades to students to be able to work at the local Kohler plant.
The addition sits directly in front of the existing structure and is 147,840 square foot building. The design included a separate entrance for a sports arena for basketball and volleyball, a cafeteria large enough for banquets, and a media center capable of having full class sessions and a computer lab. Lewis Architects Engineers also provided furniture, fixtures, and equipment acquisition for the entire building. The project achieved an ASID Bronze Design Award for Institutional category.
