  Borderline exploitation stacked with strong performances that just toe the line from slipping into outright camp. Really tightly pulled together prison drama—rife with convincing examples of the failure of the US’s prison system. Back in the 1950s!

  I feel like if this came out now, there would be endless indignant commentary as there is when anyone criticizes a system that doesn’t work. Ah well, I guess we’ve always been at war with Eurasia then.

  Vindication for PWSA!

  Based off the limited amount of (largely negative) buzz around this movie, I went in with incredibly low expectations. But—being completely honest here—I had a lot of fun. There was action, there was crazy imagery, there was a bizarre amalgam of genre mixing—resulting in what can only be called a post-apocalyptic high fantasy western.…
