Narrator: In late-December, the onslaught of snowstorms that had trapped the Donner Party showed no sign of ceasing. By then, the immigrants’ supply of Super Sentai from Sutter’s Fort was almost depleted.

Virginia Reed: It had been weeks since we last saw a Sentai episode. We were so desperate to watch any, even Hurricaneger. On Christmas, mother took us all aside and took out a movie she had hidden for us. Most of it was Kamen Rider,…

Cool, Letterboxd has all the cool Tokusatsu movies I watch.

After much waiting, I was finally able to watch this movie. Featuring all of the Showa era Kamen Riders doing battle with the Heisei era Kamen Riders, all while the evil Badan Empire lurks in the background, utilizing a new evil Kamen Rider 15.

The film primarily features the characters from Kamen Rider Gaim, the current series of Kamen Rider, but makes plenty of room for returning actors. Seeing as…

Clearly watched because Decade is a front runner. Movie is whatever. It was nice seeing OG Hongo’s actor, what an absolute menace at 70 to be doing all that still. I only watched one cut of the movie which I know there are two. But no need to really watch both versions.

Gaim is not as silly as I thought he would be.

Probably my last Toku watch for a while, drinking and watching Rider is a brilliant pasttime. I still find this shit funny as fuck with how the film plays fast and loose with canon and the fucking flower bit, good shit.

Polar opposite of Super Hero Taisen Z. Overly gimmicky for the sake of two different endings that really told the exact same message but pandered to each opposing era. It's a ridiculous, stubborn, set-in-their-ways generation gap argument forcing two separate eras of Riders into an unnecessary fight that ends up making both sides look bad for their flaws instead of doing what a real hero story is supposed to do: emphasize their strengths. "You're young and naive so we have…

Old Men vs. Twinks: The Movie

For real though, this was lots of fun. I know the treatment of the Showa Riders in this is pretty divisive, but it worked for me. The CGI Parasite Eve monster they fought at the end was fucking wild.

We watched this with both endings. My bf says it started out good, but turned into a clusterfuck. He was originally going to give it a 7 but took a point off for the alternate endings, making his rating a 6/10. He says the alternate endings are nothing more than one side saying the other was better and none of the Kamen Riders really getting a chance to shine. I get where he's coming from, which is why I give…

This movie is genuinely one of the most anger inducing movies I’ve ever watched. As a massive Rider fanboy, the amount of character assassination among both sides is asinine. If I made a drinking game where every time a character did something stupid and/or out of character, you’d be on the floor by the end of act one. I will give the movie that Fifteen is a pretty menacing design with a cool power. It’s a shame that him and…

While it starts out with a refreshingly simple plot, it eventually spirals out of control into a whirlwind of fanservice that makes it hard to follow with all of the excesses that have become par for the course with these Toei crossover movies. It also has two different endings, but as you would expect they are both of little consequence to anything in the film. I really wish Toei would either scale back the sheer number of spin-offs or at…
