An expectant father rooster fetches doctor stork, who comes out with a basket full of white chicks and one little black one, who gets crowded out of the food. After singing the title song, he manages to improvise a pair of wings and fly over the chicken coop, but regrets it when he is chased by a mean scarecrow.

I don’t know what’s more distressing about that worm: the fact it was put into a sausage grinder or the fact that it came out in six different little worms with faces and appendages.

Whatever followed directly on Ride Him, Bosko! was bound to disappoint me, and it didn't take very long. One of the very first gags here involves a rooster doing the "drag your belly up to your chest, let it fall down with a bump" bits, something that's extremely easy to directly compare to several similar gags in Ride Him, and the chasm between the two is just unmissable: the rooster's fleshy bump simply glides up his body and drops down as a rigid ball, without the exaggerated comic distortion of what happened in the preceding cartoon. The size of the worm is unintentionally distressing and will haunt my dreams alongside the fact that these chickens intermittently have a full set of human chompers in their mouths.

As for as EARLY Merrie Melodies go, this one is fairly amusing but nothing much to differentiate it. At least this one didn't have Goopy Geer in it

Finally, the first very good short of this very early Looney Tunes era.
Classic joke about the wingless chicken getting inventive to get to the vegetable garden, but then when he descends with his pseudo-flying system, you see the gate ends like, right there. He could’ve just walked around. Just like The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. 10/10.
