Visita Navideña, El visitante de Navidad
The final cartoon on this damn Christmas dvd I’ve been watching all week and it’s just a nice simple version of the night before Christmas… that also has toys come to life, a dastardly moustache twirling Jack in the box kidnaps little bo peep and ties her to some train tracks, a sailor lodged in a sailboat tries to save her (hey he’s part of the boat toy so he has no dick, how would he… you know… but then again the Jack in the box has only a spring as his lower half so he’s not much better, why am I thinking about this?)
Anyway Santa gets a donut and a cigar and one of the kids wanted a gun for Christmas. Cute short all things considered.
It's hard to tell exactly but it looks like they left Santa a donut, a hard boiled egg and a bottle of wine. Also a cigar, which he lights and then blows smoke in a toy's face to teach it a lesson.
That one was fun, and a classic. I really enjoy the animation style and the little characters in it. It's short but a fun rendition of the famous poem. I have a few more versions to watch, I watched a lot of Christmas shorts as a child.
It’s the night before Christmas meets Toy Story with... a surprising amount of badditude.
It is yet another animation showpiece somewhat stitched together into a film but it is charming, inventive and certainly different.
Yet another version of The Night Before Christmas. This version begins with narration of the poem and turns into a toys come alive story. There's a good sailor boy, damsel in distress, and sinister springy villain who ties her to toy train tracks for hero sailor boy to save, as Santa gobbles down the goods a family left for him. It's definitely similar to some of the toy cartoons of the 1930's. The art is simple and a bit ugly, but this is still good times and pretty funny, especially Santa looking at the dreams of each person and dropping the respective present in their stocking, only to have them change their minds. Merry Christmas everyone!!
A truly adorable and funny animated short based on "𝑨 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑺𝒕. 𝑵𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒔." I'm not sure if there's a name for the art style that uses thick black lines to outline everything, but I've always been attracted to it and it serves this short well. There is an entire middle section with a jack-in-the-box fighting a toy sailor for the affections of a Bo Peep doll. It's very reminiscent of the Steadfast Tin Soldier segment of 𝑭𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒂 2000 and I'm sure this was an influence, as it was probably on the Bo Peep doll in 𝑻𝒐𝒚 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚. The entire short is inventive and lively and deserves to have an audience every Christmas.
Absolutely gorgeous art style and color palette.
Reminds me of Mary Blair’s illustrations.
An instructional film wherein we learn that Santa prefers a bottle of hooch and a big fat blunt to the cliched milk and cookies.
A really fun, energetic Halas and Batchelor short and definitely one to view around the holidays. Harold Whitaker (as usual for these shorts) is beautiful to watch, which is amplified by some excellent designs (dig the one for the Snidely Whiplash villain!). A real favorite of mine.
can you imagine a cartoon coming out now that showed santa smoking a cigar? imagine
