Vikram Hype Watch #3
What a schmuck I would have been if I had not seen this before watching Vikram. Vikram, 1986 one is an espionage thriller with the plot for 80s, but Aandavar did hell of a job in technical standpoint. The plot of the film was adapted from a novel writted by Sujatha with same name. Vikram was Kamalhassan’s attempt to bring the role of the super spy to Tamil cinema. The film applies it well and starts off as a slick action thriller before it is derailed by a misguided change in tone. The film maintains a crackling pace as long as it remains in Madras. There is a lot of variety as some small twists, an…
A notorious character like Vikram deserved a better story and Lokesh is here to serve you right from June 3rd 👍
I wanted to binge watch all Kamal Haasan's films as well as all Lokesh Kanagaraj's films in a row, all back to back, throughout the past month before I further go into the theatre to watch one of my most anticipated Indian film of this year...Yes, VIKRAM! But soon somehow I've grown indifferent towards my own intentions and has lost all my interests to delve deeper in filmography of legendary Kamal Haasan sir whose filmography is literally filled with several inventive, genre defining Indian masterpieces though I've watched only a few among them! For now, as tomorrow is going to be the big day for me so I've decided to watch atleast those two films which've been suggested by people,…
what a delight!! an hour into the movie i was like haha this is so crazy and then the rest of the movie happened and i was like remember when i thought the first half was crazy...i was so innocent back then...
Technically this is a rewatch since i already watched it when i was a kid in kalaignar tv. But I can't remember most parts so I'll take this as a first watch.
I personally love indian versions of western characters and yep this one worked very well for me. I read books similiar to sujatha's way of writing back then so it was fun and connective. The opening song had me hooked up from the very first minute and ending the film with the opening song was a great idea. If only we had advanced cameras and projections this would've looked glorious even today. Sadly this film isn't even restored properly and that's a huge loss for indian experimental cinema.…
huahahahaHAHA VIKRAM!
Kamal made a better octopussy.
Also the original Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal.
Fun fact: First Indian film to use computer for recording the songs.
Underrated. I have seen it many times
Vikram is a hybrid of a James Bond movie and an Indiana Jones movie played to exquisite enjoyable Kamalisms. It's honestly as entertaining as anything from that world of "swashbuckling" heroes. Even the campiness of the film doesn't feel out of place at all, and in many ways it is very imaginative.
But I feel the greatest element of the film is its star and the character he is playing. Take Vivegam in comparison. A "spy" film made with Thala and directed by Siruthai Siva. Even with something as exciting as a spy, the director still badly holds onto a moral compass which cuts through the film, among its truckload of other flaws.
In Vikram made over 30 years before…
Vikram :-
Heavily Outdated. So Cheesy. But still good fun to watch. Young Kamal Haasan, the Handsome Hunk. It's crazy how it's went from Action Movie to 'Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kadhal'. Let's see how upcoming Vikram did upgraded with Loki Flavour... VIIKKRRAAMMM
Rating :- 6.5/10
