Hollywood’s gotta realise how great Will Poulter is and utilise him fast. So far Kathryn Bigelow seems to be the only one who knows how which is kinda frustrating since he’s got talent and screen-presence on-tap. He’s not just a funny set of eyebrows y’know, he happens to also be one of the most intriguing and exciting actors working today!!! Man, I’m gutted we never got to see his Pennywise. He would’ve done some proper weird intimidating shit with that role and I would’ve been there for all of it. Anyway, Wild Bill’s good too! Enjoyable, fresh, stylish and full of Geezas’ played by a squad of British household names, as you expect from Dexter Fletcher in his debut. Heartfelt and understated, the message Fletcher’s sending a quiet but powerful one
Young actor Will Poulter cut his acting teeth in Son of Rambow which helped put him on the map. Director Dexter Fletcher obviously saw something in Poulter and cast him in his directorial debut, Wild Bill, alongside some seasoned actors and obvious friends of Fletcher. This does have elements of the urban grittiness and comedy of Guy Ritchie's films Lock Stock and Snatch, but this is more of a family drama than one of Ritchie's more violent flicks.

Dexter Fletcher has gone on to make much bigger movies but Wild Bill, his first, is still his best in my opinion. Dedicated to his late father, it is a film with real warmth and heart and Charlie Creed-Miles is brilliant in the title role.
Debut film from Dexter Fletcher is a British crime/family drama focusing on a man released from jail after eight years, only to find himself having to play dad to his two estranged sons. The film is very much a "working class" type drama; complete with all the downtrodden locations etc. The story is not particularly original but Wild Bill benefits from a smart script and some well defined characters that are easy to like. Charlie Creed-Miles provides a sympathetic lead, and the actor does well in showcasing two sides of the character. Bloody brilliant British drama with an outstanding cast headed by the excellent Charlie Creed-Miles, Wild Bill is also the directorial debut of Dexter Fletcher - this is film-making at its best with a fine story and a top supporting cast - Will Poulter, Liz White, Neil Maskell & Andy Serkis.

A quick check on IMDB before watching this movie told me the star, Charlie Creed-Miles was in The Fifth Element. So I spent the first hour of the movie trying to remember what part he played in Fifth Element (a movie I have seen about 20 times)....when it finally hit me....he was the young priest that helped Ian Holm. As for the movie....a very well done drama that revolves around a ex-con that gets out of jail after 8 years and finds his two sons abandoned by their mother. By the end of the movie I really cared what happened to Bill and his two boys. The acting and the story are very believable. Besides Creed-Miles....Will Poulter(The Millers) as the oldest son and Andy Serkis (two scenes but memorable) shine brighest. Worth a viewing.

The last time I saw the beloved Dexter Fletcher in a film was in The Coven and that didn't turn out so well. Here, just like The Homesman, is another actor turned director that I was unaware of except here Fletcher stays behind the camera in his directorial debut.
The set up seems familiar, except that the "recently-released-from-jail-dad" that is trying to reconnect with his kids is actually the only person they have. Played by Will Poulter and Sammy Williams, the two boys have been living on their own for sometime as their mother abandoned them. So it's either help them, or leave them to fend for themselves.

Dexter Fletcher's directorial debut was a bit of an eyeopener. He's honed his skills working with an array of directors and the influence of Guy Ritchie and to some extent Matthew Vaughn are apparent with this tale of London East-end hardmen.
Charlie Creed-Miles may not be a name many are familiar with. His face though, will be, as he's played some useful support roles in films with normally a London setting. While this had a great cast who were all superb, I thought the plot was a bit tired and not exactly the most gripping thing in the world. Felt like I'd seen this story of redemption and gangland politicking many times before.
Will Poulter and Charlie Creed-Miles really were quite special though, I've never seen Peaky Blinders but if the latter's as good in that as he was in this then it might be worth a watch some day. Hmm.
