Anora 2024
Sean Baker’s commitment to understanding people who society refuses to give grace and understanding to is what makes his films so deeply impactful. He sees and acknowledges people in a way that is so beautifully intimate, it makes his films feel like they fall into a genre that is entirely their own. Anora isn’t just wildly entertaining, it’s introspective and sensitive in a way that makes it clear how much Baker cares about the characters he has crafted. It also doesn’t hurt that Mikey Madison is pure perfection in her embodiment of the titular character.

The Iron Claw 2023
I walked out of the theater 30 minutes ago but am still crying ? What an absolutely beautiful film. Zac Efron gives nothing short of a career best. As for Harris Dickinson, I will never comprehend the level of sheer star-power he holds. Every scene he’s in he can’t help but draw attention which really made him the perfect David. Could not have pulled together a better ensemble to tell a more tragic tale of untamable ambition and the love that comes with brotherhood.
