For someone who’s not not crazy about musicals, this is the second one I’ve watched in a few days.   What I liked about this is it’s big and lavish and colourful and some of the songs were decent and well performed.  I’ve loved Wizard of Oz since I was a kid, so going back to Oz was a plus.  Although none of the munchkins were played by little people- why aren’t there protests for this, regular sized people taking…

This one reminded me of an old Star Trek episode from the sixties.  Not the subject matter, but many of the characters’ garb and hairstyles felt like they were straight out of a scene with Captain Kirk.  Plot was somewhat interesting as beautiful women are snatched from the city of Manila and taken to a remote part of the jungle where they are to be used as sacrifices for a blood cult.  This was slow and not much goes on til the final act.

I really liked this different take on the usual Dracula story.  This recounts the fate of the ship The Demeter and its crew.  Setting sail from Romania headed to England, the crew start to suspect something evil is on board when the livestock on board is mutilated and crew members start being killed.
This is a pretty captivating story patiently told with plenty of suspenseful scenes.  Love the story and the cast and Dracula is suitably creepy.

I was excited to see this movie but have been let down by high expectations before. This not only met the high expectations but exceeded them.  David Gordon Green’s love letter to John Carpenter is both familiar in a good way and updated, erasing the past missteps of many of the franchises sequels.
Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode forty years since the events of the original Halloween and is still obsessively preparing for her inevitable next…
