sex, lies, and videotape 1989
A real meat and potatoes drama; I felt “full” after watching. Feels a tad Lynchian, a smidge Cronenbergian (Crash, most obviously) and even a little De Palm-y. Like, he throws this one on when he’s having a quiet night in with Mrs. De Palma.
Great little cast. Great script and direction. Even loved the sets/settings. Waiting for the Stages Kirkwood theatre adaptation.

The Holdovers 2023
If Grinch and Elf are sugar cookies and candy canes, this is like stuffing or casserole or something. What am I saying? Some sort of metaphor about seasonal food? I dunno but I felt pretty "full" after watching this one. It's a Christmas hangout movie, which there should be more of. Like all of my cherished memories of Christmas are just of hanging out, not kidnapping Santa or trekking cross country to make it home in time.
