In the 1994 post-martial law period in Taiwan, the students were in the midst of protest. Chi-wei, a female college student, joins the strike to fight for their freedom of expression. During the protest, she slowly becomes attracted to Ching, the girlfriend of the leader of the student strike.

The lesbians are cute and have a happy ending!!! But the story is kinda all over the place. If only they know what to focus and actually give depth to some important things. It feels so slow yet a lot of things are happening.
Fine art students staging protests in ('94) pre-democratic Taiwan against their authoritarian department heads (namely the crusty old professor), as they unfairly grade students based on their demeanor, rather than their work. So basically; "Wah! Student hurt my feelings, so I'm gonna take it out on their grades and even make them repeat entire courses! That's real power bitches!!"
Some of the initial conflict was kinda interesting, but then it just goes on bland cruise control for the entire run-time. Also doesn't help that everything looks so drab and lifeless. Apesar de o filme trazer temas politicamente importantes, acaba se tornando massivo e realmente chato depois de uns 40 minutos de filme. As duas personagens principais são interessantes, mas o próprio filme não parece querer explorar tanto assim. Aliás, sempre tem o triângulo amoroso com um personagem que não nos importamos.
De resto, ele é bonitinho e é bom ter um filme que tem um final feliz assim, com um casal lésbico.

Here comes yet another typical Taiwanese movie — a coming-of-age story / queer love-triangle romance set in the post-Martial Law 90’s, featuring student protests and intimate scenes involving water.
Where the film lacks in its lackluster, middle-of-the-road narrative style and clunky editing, it tries to make up in its sensual academy-ratio cinematography, effectively moody score, and the engaged performance from its two leads, who exhibit occasional sparks of chemistry and onscreen charisma.
However, maybe that’s just not enough to elevate the film when there’s no real drive or stakes to the whole story. So everything becomes quite flat and unmemorable as a whole.
