There is a bit of talking heads in this but most of the film is the Griffith family's 16mm footage from their adventures sailing around the world. The directors said in Q&A that they did send all that footage for one pass of cleaning since it had been sitting in cans in a basement in Hawaii for years and years, but they didn't clean it up too much and what a good choice that was. They pulled the rusted engine out of the sea and got it working again on a desert island. Then they went to New Zealand and built a new yacht with their own two hands and used it to sail around Antarctica without a GPS while the lady was pregnant. This is why boomers call everyone snowflakes.
