  A king made him a clown, the queen made him a lord, but society made him the Joker.

  An incredible gem from the silent era, Veidt's use of only his eyes (his mouth being locked into a rictus grin) is a masterclass in silent film acting.

  I got to watch this on the big screen, with a packed house, and a live band providing the score. It was a great experience, but my favorite part by far was when the entire crowd cheered for Homo the wolf.
