A true documentation of a time and place. No attempt at creating a narrative is its strength. Glad someone captured this on film, as many of these great artists are not well known.

    HIGH Points:
    • Guy Clark — L.A. Freeway, Texas Cookin'

    • Seymour Washington's tears. Much respect sir.

    • Charlie Daniels Band playing to a packed highschool gymnasium

    • Peggy Brooks giving it her all on "Let's Go All The Way"

    LOW Point:
David Allan Coe. If you look up Bullshitter in the dictionary, there's a picture of his face

ZaSu Pitts and Patsy Kelly in their only feature together. Sadly, Thelma Todd is with the angels by this point.

Victor McLaglen and Marjorie Woodworth top the bill. The great cast really brings fun to the most generic script. The ZaSu moments are golden of course. Also, nice train shots and some locomotive jargon for those railroad geeks out there.

Like Dylan's career, this film perpetuates existing myths, revises others, and creates new ones. Frequent big chunks of song support and propel the narrative. The use of so much music was a great decision by the filmmakers.

Chalamet is great as Bob of course. He navigates the stages of Dylan as man, myth and legend sequentially and simultaneously.

The one exceptionally stand out performance is Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez. She captured the moody and sassy Baez that we've seen…
