Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s Ice Hockey Wins 5-1 in Exhibition against UNLV

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Saturday night, men's ice hockey faced off against UNLV in game one of the two game exhibition series versus the Skatin' Rebels. The Lions would come out on top, winning 5-1 over the Skatin' Rebels.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, the Lions would find the back of the net less than a minute into the game. Drew Kuzma would be attributed the goal, roofing one into the top right corner. The Skatin' Rebels would strike back quickly with one of their own, scoring at the 2:07 mark into the game, tying the game up at 1-1. For the remainder of the game, the Lions would hold the Skatin' Rebels scoreless. Later into the frame, the Lions would notch their second goal of the game, scoring off a rebound, during a power-play effort. Jake Southgate would be attributed the goal, assisted by Kristof Papp and Drew Kuzma. After 20 minutes of play, Lindenwood would have the 2-1 lead over the Skatin' Rebels.

In the second period, the Lions would score three unanswered goals. Mitch Allard would score the first goal of the period, off a slap-shot at the 4:09 mark of the period. Kuzma would notch his second goal of the night at 9:40. Southgate would also notch his second goal of the game in the second period, coming at the 16:03 mark. After two periods of play, the Lions led 5-1.

In the third period, strong defense by both sides held both teams off the scoresheet, with the Lions leading 5-1, after the final whistle.

Owen Bartoszkiewicz got the nod in net, making 14 saves.
