Lion Business Park is a 2000 hectare industrial, commercial and residential development with world class public facilities and infrastructure, located in Enugu State of Nigeria.
The park is a licensed Free Trade Zone at the confluence of Markurdi – Enugu Road and Benin – Enugu within the 9th Mile area of Enugu State.
Located on the trans-African Highway, it is only 20mins drive to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, less than 3/4 hours drive to the Port Harcourt/Calabar seaports, near a rail link from Enugu to Port-Harcourt and connections to all the South Western and Northern States of Nigeria.
THE IDEA OF LION BUSINESS PARK
In 2016, Enugu State Government (ENSG) organized an investment summit which attracted participants from within and outside Nigeria. At the summit, Enugu State Government, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi conveyed her resolve to place Enugu State at the disposal of well-meaning investors, professionals, partners and entrepreneurs. The central theme of the summit was on how to catalyse the economy of Nigeria and in particular South Eastern region, using the advantages offered by Enugu State as a peaceful central location.
In furtherance to the summit, a group of Nigerian professionals entered into consultations with Nigeria business community, their foreign counterparts and various chambers of commerce and conceived the idea of an integrated industrial/commercial hub otherwise known as the Lion Business Park.
Lion Business Park (LBP) aims at promoting trade, commerce and industries. The basic idea is to create an integrated industrial/commercial hub driven and funded entirely by the private sector. This initiative which is in collaboration with Enugu State Government would catalyse socio-economic activities in Enugu State, South-Eastern Nigeria and ultimately lead to large scale production of goods an services for export as well as create jobs for people of the State in particular and Nigeria in general.
The Park which sits on a land mass of over 2000 hectares would utilize technology, ICT infrastructure and the internet of things (IoT) to connect people, industries, businesses ad services operating within and outside the park. Through this way, the Lion Business Park is planned as a smart industrial city.
THE CONCEPT
Lion Business Park is a public-private partnership initiative conceived by the promoters of Lion Business Park in collaboration with Enugu State Government to facilitate the development of an industrial hub that would help address the problems of manufacturing and trading in Nigeria by creating an enabling environment through the provision of state-of-the-art infrastructure i.e. power, security, ICT facilities, road infrastructure, e.t.c. These infrastructures would facilitate industrialization, entrepreneurship, boost commerce, and lead to the creation of wholesale pathway for the production and supply of goods and services across Africa.
LBP is also also conceptualized to bridge the significant manufacturing gap in Nigeria and West Africa sub-region by co-locating manufacturing industries with wholesalers that sell imported, assembled and locally manufactured goods and services.
Through this means, the project is conceived to provide a veritable platform for interactions between manufacturers, businesses, traders and entrepreneurs.
These interactions amongst the different players in the economic value chain would ultimately bring about production and distribution efficiency, cost reduction ad transform importers to exporters , traders to manufacturers, craftsmen to innovators and the unemployed to business owners and employers of labour.
The development model for Lion Business Park is to build sustainable partnerships and collaboration with investors, individuals, businesses, foreign companies and entities and other financiers to develop what will arguably be regarded as the largest industrial cum commercial hub in Eastern Nigeria.
This initiative will create the first of such industrial/commercial hub in a Free Trade Zone in Eastern Nigeria.
OPERATIONAL STATUS/CERTIFICATION
The Lion Business Park is currently operational and is within the Enugu Industrial Park Free Trade Zone, an area licensed by the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) as a free trade zone. Lion Business Park has also been duly registered as a Free Trade Zone Management company and is authorised to undertake free zone operations.
