Halloween Floam Ingredients

You can use any of our basic slime recipes for our Halloween slime ideas, but we like our basic saline solution slime recipe with the Elmers clear washable school glue.

Saline Solution Floam Slime Recipe

Watch the Video:

STEP 1: Add 1/2 cup of Elmers Glue to your bowl

STEP 2: Mix with a 1/2 cup of water (you can try omitting this for a thicker floam).

STEP 3: Add food coloring as desired

STEP 4: Stir in 1/2 tsp baking soda

STEP 5: Stir in a cup and a quarter of foam slime beads or as many as you desire!

STEP 6: Mix in 1 tbsp saline solution and stir until slime forms and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. This is precisely how much you will need with the Target Sensitive Eyes brand, but other brands may differ slightly!

If your slime still feels too sticky, you may need a few more drops of saline solution. As I mentioned above, start by squirting a few drops of the solution onto your hands and kneading your slime longer. You can always add, but you can’t take away. Saline solution is preferred over contact solution.

NOTE: We have found that Elmer’s Specialty Glues tend to be a bit stickier than their regular glue, and we prefer our 2-ingredient slime recipe for this glue.

If you are having trouble, use our “How To Fix Your Slime” guide, and make sure to watch my live, start-to-finish slime video here.

TO PLAY: Cut fun faces from black foam paper and decorate your Halloween floam characters! Alternatively, you can add plastic spiders and any assortment for creepy crawlies and google eyes.

Easy Halloween Floam Ideas

We made this Halloween Foam with white glue, food coloring, and foam beads. Clear glue is super easy to use and also works well for this recipe, but your color will be slightly different! You can also use colored foam beads.

Come up with your own favorite Halloween theme characters:

  • black slime and foam beads for a black cat
  • green slime and foam beads for monster, goblin, or Frankenstein
  • orange slime and foam beads for a jack o lantern
  • white slime and foam beads for a ghost
  • purple slime and foam beads for a witch or wizard

Halloween Floam Slime Tips

The base for this Halloween floam uses one of our most basic slime recipes: white glue, water, baking soda, and saline solution. NOTE: For a stiffer Foam, you can omit the water you would normally add to the basic saline solution slime recipe.

Now if you don’t want to use a saline solution, you can test out one of our other basic recipes using liquid starch or borax powder.

Our easy, “how to make” slime recipes will show you how to master slime in 5 minutes! We have spent years tinkering with our 4 now 5 favorite basic slime recipes to make sure you can make the BEST slime every time!

Slime Science

We love adding some homemade slime science to explore Chemistry with a fun Halloween twist! Slime is a great chemistry demonstration that kids enjoy, covering concepts like mixtures, polymers, states of matter, elasticity, and viscosity.

How does slime work?

The borate ions in activators (like borax or boric acid) mix with the PVA glue, causing cross-linking, which turns the glue into a stretchy substance. The glue, a polymer, consists of long molecules that flow until the borate ions connect them, forming thicker, rubbery slime!

Is slime a liquid or solid? It’s a Non-Newtonian fluid, meaning it acts like both! Experiment with its viscosity by adding foam beads or adjusting the mixture’s density.

Storing Your Slime

This foam makes a fun non-candy Halloween treat for the kiddos to make at parties or give to friends! Small plastic containers work well. You can even use a Sharpie to draw a face on the outside of the container or cut and paste more foam shapes!

Slime lasts quite a while! I get a lot of questions regarding how I store my slime. We use reusable containers in either plastic or glass. Make sure to keep your slime clean, and it will last for several weeks. I love the deli-style containers in my recommended slime supplies list here.

If you want to send kids home with slime from a camp, party, or classroom project, I suggest packages of reusable containers from the dollar store, grocery store, or even Amazon. For large groups, we have used condiment containers, as seen here.
