Today I will share with you one unique old school Indonesian traditional cake that I found recently when I went to Jakarta.
This cake shape looks like ice cream cone and because of that I called this cake is Kue Es Krim (Ice Cream Cake)
By the way, the real name of this Kue Es Krim is Kue Celorot.
Honestly I am not sure which part of Indonesia originally this Kue Celorot comes from. The one that I know is this kue is really nice.
Other than the unique looks, they also uniquely wrap this Kue Celorot with janur or young coconut leaf in cone shape. It takes so much hardwork to make this cake.
Even the way we open this cake is also unique. We need to pull the top of the leaf roundly to open the cake.
This cake itself is made from brown sugar, coconut milk and rice flour. After they mix all ingredients, they steam and wrap it.
Nowadays, it’s quite hard to find this Kue Celorot. If you find one, don’t ever think twice to try it 😉.
