When you go on vacation, the goal is to unwind and relax. To see things and explore places that are different than home. For a modern place to stay with amenities like a smart TV, an indoor pool, and at an affordable rate, the Wallace Inn is your best option out of the Wallace Idaho hotels. Expect a clean room, comfy beds, and a quiet stay so that you’ll wake up well rested. What makes this hotel stand out though is its customer service. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is the best possible. For example, if you’re planning to ride the legendary Hiawatha, they’ll even help you shuttle it. One thing to note – although the rooms are in great shape, they still don the classic hotel fashion from the eighties.
Restaurant
Alongside this well-maintained piece of property if you’re not feeling up to exploring downtown Wallace Idaho, their restaurant is solid. To start, the names on the menu are inspired by the region’s past. Our pancake breakfast was “The Little Depot.” How was it? They were some of the fluffiest pancakes I’d ever seen. Soft, light, and filling is the best description. “The Center of the Universe” scrambler (someone’s got to claim it, so why not Wallace) was delicious and hearty, which is important for a big day of outdoor fun.
Ryan Hotel

The Ryan has been a hotel since 1903, and until the early 2010’s, it was a residential hotel for long term stays. In fact, one of the guests was a 3rd grade schoolteacher who lived in the same hotel room for nearly 42 years! Imagine that! Some people live in tiny studio apartments today, but to live in a hotel room and use a shared hallway bath for potentially half of your life. That would definitely cut down on the clutter.
Like a well-aged Hollywood actor or actress, the new owners have made sure that the charm and craftsmanship remain but with a bit of a facelift. They did this by keeping the architecture the same such as the old growth pine moldings. Yet at the same time, replacing the beds and renovating the bathrooms. What you get is a chance to experience what hotels were like at the turn of the century but still have a comfortable stay at an affordable price.
The Brooks Hotel

Another institution in the town of Wallace to consider is the Brooks Hotel. The green awning and exterior façade reminds me of an old school hotel you’d see in Manhattan in the 60s. At any moment, you feel as though someone will walk out the front door looking like he’s come out of the movie “Mad Men.”
As of late 2019 when the new proprietors Rachel Stanley and Emily Nelson joined the team, they’ve given this classic building the TLC it needed. Keeping with that retro motif, each room along with the restaurant have been refreshed and re-energized. This included replacing everything down to the sub-floor as well as getting new mattresses and new TVs. Since it’s an old historic building, be aware that to get to a top floor room, you need to take the stairs which could be a hindrance to some travellers.
Restaurant
While the décor has been upgraded since we visited in 2017, you can still expect the same great food at the restaurant. Their claim to fame is the Chicken Fried Steak, and we totally agree. The breading is caramelized and crispy on the outside while the inside is tender and juicy where you don’t even need the sauce. Of course, the house-made sausage gravy is amazing too, but this breakfast meat could stand on its own. Another dish that’s fan-friggin’-tastic are any of the dishes that use their house made hollandaise sauce which includes even their omelets.
Kellogg
Still within the Silver Valley region and about ten minutes down I-90 from Wallace is the town of Kellogg. Since the major employer Bunker Hill Mine Complex closed its doors in the 80’s, it’s transformed itself into an outdoor recreation gateway. You’ll find the Silver Mountain Resort that features some of the best mountain biking in summer, and in the winter, a powderhounds dream. Along with the ski resort, there’s also a fun year-round indoor waterpark.
Silver Mountain Lodging

On the flanks of the Silver Mountain gondola which allows access to the ski area, you’ll find Silver Mountain lodging complex. A consortium of condo units that you can rent for a day or an entire weeklong stay. Guests have easy access to the waterpark, ski area, and even a golf course that’s on the property. From studios up to multi-room apartments, you’ll have options to pick from.
FairBridge Inn & Suites

Another option that affords you walking distance from the gondola and waterpark in Kellogg is the FairBridge Inn & Suites. The hotel features modest-sized rooms with a refrigerator and free Wi-Fi. You also have access to an indoor pool and spa.
