What did you think of Carla in the season 3 premiere!

*Takes Breath* CARLA IS PRECIOUS AND PERFECT AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL.

Seriously. I absolutely adored her in the premiere. Her wanting to rescue her Papa and that being her sole focus is so precious and pure. Sure, she probably still wants more, but all of that is on hold until her father is rescued. And the amount of negative craps she gives about anything that’s not her mission is great. She even has the gall to mouth off to Zopolite and not care.

Also, she pout. And it’s adorable.

But, on a deeper note, can we talk about how…horrified she looks when Ash sings about how power is absolutely everything? We all know that Carla thinks that magic and power will get her respect, but I don’t think she thought it was the be all end all. Her family has a big part of her carefully closed-off heart and she can’t imagine leaving her father behind.

And, her facial expressions shift a lot during the sequence. She’s caught between helping the mother that she idolised for so long and staying loyal to her father. PLUS, she expresses a fair bit of empathy – particularly when Ash talks about how she lost everything. Carla has never had much, and now the one constant in her life, her father, is gone for the first time ever and she feels that. She feels what her mother did in that moment she described.

This reveals a lot about Carla. The fact that, as I headcanoned before, she is extremely loyal to those she holds dear. Though she hides her feelings a lot, she does feel. And she feels deeply. Her eyes in particular show this. They shift around as her feelings do, and she wears her emotions on her face a lot, which is a huge kudos to the animators. Not only that, but she’s starting to realise that the image she had of her mother, may not actually be what she dreamed in reality. Now that it’s just the two of them and they’re spending all this time together, Carla is getting to really know Ash and her motivations and it’s starting to break the fantasy. To finish on a more positive note:

I also love this goofy side of her she still sometimes has. Like, the whole scene with her acting out “seeing Elena,” the fact that she built a rock Elena and also…THIS.

This is everything. She is so impatient and precious and I am living for it. So…yeah. Carla is adorable and I’m even more convinced of an eventual #SunsetCarla.

(P.S. Whoever keeps asking about Carla’s personality in line with her parents’: I’m working on it. Y’all have to understand. I work full time and am in university right now. And that is a LOADED question. I have to analyse Carla, Victor AND Ash and put that all together. And I’m trying. It’s just…Going to be a long while.)
