Fujimoto Gold

Fujimoto Gold (Japanese: フジモトゴールド Fujimoto Gold; born 1993)[2] is an illustrator, concept artist and designer, living in Kobe, Hyogo.[2] Originally studying business administration, statistic and human resource management at a university in Kobe, he decided on becoming a freelance illustrator for a year.[2] Whilst also working part-time in the restaurant industry, he became interested in manufacturing, leading him to enter the Graphic Design Department of the Kobe City College of Technology.[2] His career as an illustrator began in full after this graduation, whilst he also worked as a web designer and coder at an IT company.[2] His pen-name, "Fujimoto Gold", was a nickname given to him by the owner of a restaurant he worked under as a form of praise.[2] Much of Fujimoto's early professional career was centered around promotional pieces for the city of Kobe.[3]

Fujimoto Gold in 2020[1]

Fujimoto's debut as staff on the Pokémon series was as the sole background artist on POKÉTOON's Snorunt's Summer Vacation. Just a year later, he'd enter the 2022 TCG Illustration Contest with art of Charizard, Greninja[4] and Pikachu,[4] though would not progress past the quarter-finals. In 2023, he was charged with the task of adapting the character designs from Detective Pikachu Returns to animation, as the character designer of Detective Pikachu & the Mystery of the Missing Flan. In 2024, he finally went on to produce official artwork for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the first of which being Gastly from the Wild Force expansion.
