Route 116 (Japanese: 116番道路 Route 116) is a route in western Hoenn, connecting Rustboro City and Rusturf Tunnel.
Route description
There are three large patches of grass on the route, containing wild Pokémon at low levels. This route is the only place in the Generation III core series games where wild Skitty and Nincada are encountered. It is also the first area where Trainers will encounter wild Whismur.
To the east of this route, near the entrance of Rusturf Tunnel, is the Tunnelers' Rest House, which is not accessible until the player rescues Mr. Briney's Wingull, Peeko, from a Team MagmaROR or Team AquaSEAS Grunt. Inside are workers who were previously working on the construction of Rusturf Tunnel but stopped due to the harm it brought to the wild Pokémon in it.
A sizable portion of the route requires Cut to access. On the east side of the route, east of the entrance to Rusturf Tunnel, is a location where a Secret Base can be made.
