Melli believes the power granted by Frenzying is a blessing granted by almighty Sinnoh to protect the Diamond Clan. He has an arrogant and self-centered personality, but according to Mai, he used to be very shy and withdrawn, until he one day announced that he would work hard to help Adaman.
Melli first appears during the meeting between Adaman, Kamado, and the player when discussing the situation involving the Diamond Lord Pokémon, Electrode. He storms into the room demanding to be involved since he is the Warden responsible for Electrode.
Once in the Coronet Highlands, Melli attempts to sabotage the player by removing the torches within Wayward Cave, and then challenging the player to a battle outside the Ancient Quarry. Once at the Moonview Arena where Electrode resides, Melli challenges the player once again to protect Electrode from being calmed. Even after losing, he refuses to reveal Electrode's favorite food to create the Balms, only cooperating when Adaman personally orders him to.
In the post-game, Melli can be found at Moonview Arena. Speaking to him allows the player to initiate a rematch against Lord Electrode. If the player completes the challenge, Melli will award four Exp. Candies M and, if the player received no damage, three Grit Pebbles.
Pokémon
Like all members of the Diamond Clan, Melli does not keep his Pokémon in Poké Balls and will send out all of his Pokémon against the player. He claims that his Pokémon partner is his Skuntank,
Melli has a preference for Poison-type Pokémon. His usage of a Skuntank and Golbat mimic those of the modern day of Jupiter's. Both Melli and Arezu will be fought subsequently at the training grounds during the Path of Tenacity, giving the allusion of the battles with Mars and Jupiter.
First battle
Melli will ask the player for a battle at Heavenward Lookout to prove their worth. However the player can turn down his request and the story will play out as normal. Eventually at Wayward Wood on the way to Ancient Quarry, he will ask the player for a fight once more. This second request is mandatory, and, while given the option to refuse, the player must accept.
Second battle
Skorupi and Zubat have effort level 3 in their Attack and Sp. Attack.
