Ravens Report Card Week Five: The Defense
The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-10. For the full recap, check out Jarrett Pfiefer’s recap here. Here is the grade for Baltimore’s defense this week.
Defense: B+
Instead of the breaking this defense grade down position by position, I’m going to simplify this based on how well they played as a unit. The Baltimore Ravens defense played themselves a tremendously great game on Sunday. They only allowed 15 points to the Steelers offense, embarrassing them from start to finish. The only thing that kept them from getting an A was they had trouble stopping George Pickens allowing 6 receptions for 130 yards, including the go-ahead TD over Marlon Humphrey. The defense was pretted gassed at this time, though, and that was really the only major mishap. Their fatigue was due to the fact that the offense couldn’t hold their end of the bargain and capitalize on opportunities presented to them. But other than that Mike McDonald had his guys ready for this rivalry game. Justin Madubuike applied pressure all day up the middle, and Roquan Smith was all over the field making tackles and making his presence known.
