“Your Faith has Healed you” Faith Healing ? Has it relevance in the Scientific World today? Or just a superstition?
(origionally published in — Happierandhappier.com.)
Is Faith a relevant tool in our toolbox to recover health and wellbeing?
Is a ‘miracle’ something worth aiming for?
Are Faith in the ministry of Churches and Religions and faith sellers effective in peoples process to healing?
Is it all a fraud, are the issues of faith just superstitious beliefs in this technological age ?
Or, is there some basis for this universal belief ? That Human Beings can have a will that has an impact on the physical reality of life.
Viktor E. Frankl, from his — Man’s search for Meaning.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
“Those who have a ‘why’ to live, can bear with almost any ‘how’.”
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
“Don’t aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one’s personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself. Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long-run — in the long-run, I say! — success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it”.

Victor Frankl was Prisoner of War and spent the Second World War in Auschwitz concentration camp. As a student of Freud he was a Psychotherapist, and his experiences in the war helped him develop his ideas and theories on Meaning and creating Logotherapy as a therapeutic practice.
People with ‘Meaning’ in there lives survived the Concentration camps better than those that did not.
Also consider that with latest discoveries in current scientific endeavour, is the new Field of Science, called Epigenetics. What is over and above the Genetic Heritage and Environmental conditions can cause changes in Chromosomal activity to affect gene expression. Genes can be turned on or remain dormant throughout ones Life.
“Epigenetics are stable heritable traits (or “phenotypes”) that cannot be explained by changes in DNA sequence.”.Riggs AD, Russo VE, Martienssen RA (1996). Epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation. Plainview, N.Y.: Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press. ISBN 0–87969–490–4.[page needed] Wkipedia.2017.
Thirdly, the discovery of the Placebo Effect on Human interactions with the world, account for the Double Blind Test in Broad Based Peer Reviewed Medical Scienctific Research and the Binary Outcomes method of experimentation. This is when testing the outcomes of a ‘Drug’ trial, half the people will be given a Sugar pill. Amazingly, a lot of people taking the sugar pill begin to have the same results as if they took the drug being tested. There has been decades of research into this Human phenomenon, but what is not generally known about the Placebo Effect is that it can work the other way too. People who were given the drug being tested were told it was just a sugar pill, and they saw no noticeable effects from the Drug.
It can works both ways depending on what the test subject believes.
So much is still misunderstood about the power of Human will.
Why are there so many stories about this? Legends, fables, religions even?
This is deep within us. Belief and it’s power to heal.
Here is a story of a belief someone had..
This is a true Story of Faith that I personally witnessed as a longtime friend of a wonderful woman called Eugenie.
This is Her story.
— — — —
“My name is Eugenie. I was born in Beirut, Lebanon. I am a proud mother of 3. I am a French teacher and a Bikram yoga instructor.
I was diagnosed with systemic diffuse scleroderma disease and severe myopathy in May 2014. They gave me six months to live. The scleroderma disease has hit all my internal organs…
A typical A type personality described by my mates as a perfectionist driven by a goal-oriented mind-set and the intense drive to succeed.
I always wanted to get a lot of things done and I was deeply irked by anything that slows me down. I was constantly on the go and always in a rush. I was labelled by my family, Eugenie the flying woman…
On the 11th of June 2014, I suffered from a Myocardial infarction and I was admitted to hospital since. Luckily, I survived the attack.
With a blink of an eye, my previous and hectic life has changed 180 degrees. My brain that always went into overdrive was shocked. From Eugenie, the ADHD who extremely loved life, always jacked up and pumped up, to a weak, fragile, exhausted and constantly tired woman with no physical strength nor energy trying to fight all her being this chronic systemic autoimmune disease.
First time in my life, I felt useless, worn out and immobile. And of course, I was calm motionless and quiet, unlike me…
If you have faith and you believe, you will be cured.
Corrie Ten Boom quoted: “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God”.
It was an onerous, exhausting, punishing and stressful path for me, yet enlightening and full of wisdom… I learned a lot from this trial. My faith, trust and believe in God, have become much more persuasive.
There are no accidents in this universe. I could turn this whole journey around by laughing and being grateful than being upset. It’s all about mind-body connection and its incredibly amazing capacity for healing. I explored the power of the mind and its ability to perform healing miracles. I learned from this debilitating disease to explore the power I possessed to accomplish anything that I place my attention on, with love rather than fear our anchor.
I believe we are all connected on this earth. My sickness, my belief and faith have launched me into preaching of faith and self-empowerment. Diffuse scleroderma disease and severe myopathy have changed my outlook on my life. I learned how to clear my inner world of everything that interferes with the bliss of my inner peace.
You have to forgive from all your heart. It takes courage to forgive. Do it!
Don’t hold grudges, laugh, love with all your heart, apologize when you should and let go of what you can’t change.
We all have the power to heal ourselves. Anytime. All the time.
Here I am! Fully cured with the grace of God and still going strong and happy.
All my love
Namaste

Eugenie went on after this recovery to walk the whole Camino de Santiago. the Way of St. James in Spain over 800 kms far. She is such a living testament to the power of faith. Faith is a tool in our arsenal in the fight to recover and heal one’s Self. We do also have all the tremendous benefits brough to us by Scientific discoveries in the arts of Healing. Modern medicine has given a massive boon to Humanity which cannot be denied and put aside in lieu of Faith.
Together both are important and to take cognizance of in your own healing process.
Find Your faith, find more meaning in your Life.
Peace.
