:I made some direct edits to the post on Mastodon because there were a number of errors in this one — the comma splice and use of "you" instead of "your" in the third sentence, for example. I usually don't sit on any sort of high horse when it comes to grammar, but if we're posting from an official Wikipedia account we ought to check each post thoroughly before approving. In the future, please be more careful (or reach out to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors| someone who can help]) [[User:Annierau|Annierau]] ([[User talk:Annierau|talk]]) 03:18, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

I thought it sounded pretty good! I think that I'd probably change a couple structural changes to make it more concise :) Something like:

Hey, I'm logged into the Mastodon and I made a few edits to make the sentence a little less clunky, to remove typos, and to clarify the info (November 17 isn't the anniversary of Fireman Sam, just the anniversary of its airing on BBC1). Here's the text that is currently posted:
#Onthisday in 1987, BBC1 showed animated TV star Fireman Sam putting on his coat and hat for the first time — in less than seven seconds! The show has been shown in 155 countries, with 265 episodes over 14 seasons.
I noticed this post was proposed and approved within the same minute, meaning that no one had a real chance to catch the errors. Might be good practice to wait a bit before posting. I'll start doing the same. Thanks! Annierau (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Not trying to overstep but I cleared this up to be more readable. How about "100 years ago today, Australia's first public radio station, now called ABC Radio Sydney, did its first broadcast."? In general I think it's best practice to use hashtags sparingly in text (I don't mind them as much after the sentence, so I kept #australia #australianhistory and #publicradio the way you had them). I made some direct edits to the post on Mastodon because there were a number of errors in this one — the comma splice and use of "you" instead of "your" in the third sentence, for example. I usually don't sit on any sort of high horse when it comes to grammar, but if we're posting from an official Wikipedia account we ought to check each post thoroughly before approving. In the future, please be more careful (or reach out to someone who can help) Annierau (talk) 03:18, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
