Obaid Raza

Hello, I'm Obaid Raza, active user in ur.wiki. I would like to assist people understand how to use Wikipedia and I would like to help people by replying to their inquiries and questions. I'm an active user in en.wiki. Normally my activity is focused on Articles for Deletion and Articles for Creation. The latter frequently involves helping complete newcomers understand why their work might not be accepted, what they need to do and helping them penetrate the mist around article creation. The former, however, is what really encouraged me towards OTRS - normally AfD is purely for active participants who know the system. But every time newcomers found themselves dragged into the impenetrable set of phrases being thrown around as they defended their articles I realised more help was needed for those who aren't specialists.

I am not a sysop or a multi-lingust, however I do feel that I that I can keep my calm and work with individuals asking the bulk of "standard" inquiries (bias, inaccuracy, basic copyright, explanations of processes and hope to learn out into additional areas).

I'd like to help out on OTRS because I'm kind...and a lot of good words about myself...(jk) I've been on Wikipedia for little bit over 8 years now, as I'm now stepping into post-college life, and became more experienced with the dealings of people and the English language, I'd like to be more of a help to the movement. I have been quite active on zh-wikipedia recently, and occasionally make improvement here and there on en wikipedia. My major interest includes languages, philosophy and also computer science. I'm also a huge fan of Aaron Swartz, whose article I recently re-translated into zh-wiki, hoping to promote the understanding of the importance of open information in modern society. I hope to help with OTRS as I am pretty good at being cool with everyone no matter what the situation is. Looking forward to join fellow lovely Wikipedians on this task! You have very limited edits on Commons. Please demonstrate your knowledge in copyright matters. -Mys_721tx (talk) 06:08, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to help out on OTRS mostly because I'm decent at working with people of all types, partially from my professional background (IT sysadmin/user support), and also particularly in working with WP:ACC requests on enwiki. I believe I could be useful in helping with the queues on the projects I'm most active in (enwiki, commons, wikidata), and would be happy to assist. — AfroThundr (u · t · c) 18:33, 18 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to help out on OTRS because this is the kind of role I would be ideal in. I am experienced here and know about responding sensitively to comments or complaints from people at all levels of society. I have been an admin on English Wikibooks for about 12 years and a check user on the same project for about 4 years. Xania (talk) 09:38, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have been on enwiki for over 10 years. I have helped out in most areas of the project, but my favourite is helping people and assisting with disputes. I help out with requests on the IRC help channel, and am experienced with AfC, AfD, NPP, and areas related to BLPs. I am able to deal well with promotional editors, and am good at keeping my cool in difficult situations. Bradv 04:10, 25 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
