Christmas Jumper Day 2013 (December 13) is fast approaching and, with competition for the best festive knit hotting up in offices across the country, the more discerning among us are searching for the ultimate Christmas jumper with a difference (and, yes, you can be discerning about Christmas jumpers).
The ante has already been well and truly upped with the digital log fire Christmas jumper created by former Nasa engineer, Mark Rober, which works using an app displaying a log fire that is downloaded onto your phone and then placed inside the jumper to create that flickering fireplace effect. 1. The noisy one
If you can put up with colleagues wanting to honk your horn all day, then this reindeer jumper with a squeaky red nose is perfect. It comes with added bells for good measure, but sadly no whistles.

2. The one that lights up
If you want a Christmas knit that will light up a room, then you have plenty of choice on the high street. The star on this Christmas tree jumper glows as you move, transforming you into a walking, talking Christmas bauble.

3. The 3D one
This jumper from Primark shows the reason why Santa keeps getting stuck up those chimneys – his bootylicious 3D bum. Stay off those mince pies Santa. If you can’t pick up this knit from the store itself, then it’s still available on eBay.
4. The maternity one
Christmas jumpers are such big business now that some high street shops even have a maternity range. We think this sweater featuring a mother and baby penguin manages to be just the right side of cute.

Darth Vader comes over from the dark side in this festive sweatshirt that combines Santa and sci-fi.
6. The vintage one
There’s something refreshingly simple about this vintage design from Urban Outfitters. We like the little touch of bling on the tree too.
7. The designer one
This is as classy as Christmas jumpers get. Punk knitwear designers Sibling will be one of the labels to watch at the upcoming London Collections: Men showcase in January 2014. And if you manage to grab the Merry Christmas jumper from their recent collaboration with Topman, you’ll definitely be best dressed on Christmas Jumper Day (although, admittedly, that’s not hard).
8. The musical one
This musical snowman jumper plays a festive jingle which hopefully won’t drive your colleagues too mad. We tried to find a jumper that played some of Cliff Richard’s Christmas hits but, strangely, no one’s thought of that yet. One for next year Primark.
9. The as seen on screen ones
Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield have been modelling a range of Christmas jumpers on ITV’s This Morning. These ones are courtesy of Crazy Granny Clothing – we particularly like their elf jumper.
