Ukrainian brigade was trained in Sweden – media
The Ukrainian brigade underwent training in Sweden.
The military has mastered tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and artillery systems.
The Swedish newspaper Expressen reported on this.
According to the media, the soldiers who participated in the training were to return to Ukraine earlier in May.
However, the Armed Forces of Sweden refused to confirm or deny the information about the training of Ukrainians.
The newspaper notes that the Ukrainian servicemen were trained in using several types of weapons and military equipment, which Sweden is transferring to Ukraine as military assistance in resisting the Russian invasion.
These include, for example, the Stridsvagn 122 main battle tank, which is the Swedish version of the German Leopard 2A5 tank, the CV90 tracked armored combat vehicle (Stridsfordon 90), and the Archer artillery system.
In March, the Swedish Parliament supported the Government’s proposal to transfer a military aid package to Ukraine, which included Archer artillery systems and Stridsvagn 122 tanks.
The government justified its proposal by the fact that the provision of military equipment to Ukraine served the interests of Sweden.
The assistance package for Ukraine is estimated at $630 million.
The Stridsvagn 122 main battle tank is the Swedish version of the German Leopard 2A5 tank. The tank was jointly developed by Krauss-Maffei and Swedish Åkers Krutbruk Protection AB. The armor, fire control system, and a number of other units were changed the most during the adaptation of the vehicle to the conditions of the Swedish Ministry of Defense.
The Archer is a Swedish 155 mm self-propelled howitzer developed by BAE Systems Bofors. The artillery component of the Archer self-propelled guns is represented by a 155mm FH 77B gun with a barrel length of 55 calibers. The unique autoloader system allows it to release six shells within 30 seconds in multiple-round simultaneous impact mode.
