Flash approached Peter at his locker, the usual smug grin on his face that disgusted most decent people.

Peter tried his best to ignore him, and your eyes would not tear away from the two of them. You’d never had the best relationship with your twin brother, going between adoring him and despising him, but it had never stopped you loving him. Though you weren’t fond of admitting it, he was your brother, and you’d do anything for him—except for being seen in school with him.

Flash slammed Peter’s locker shut, narrowly missing his fingers in the process. Peter didn’t even try to walk away, knowing it was futile to try and stop him from saying what he wanted to say. Flash leaned against the lockers, towering over Peter and enjoying every drawn out second of it. You clutched your books tighter to your chest, breathing deeply to try to keep your calm, analysing the situation to see if you needed to intervene.

“Can you do anything, Petey?” Flash asked condescendingly, earning a few laughs from the cowards behind him.

    “What?” he cocked an eyebrow.

“I mean, you can’t even skate, and that’s so easy,” he criticised, sounding like a snobbish child and sniggering once the words left his mouth.

Peter sighed, his shoulders slumping as he looked up through his eyelashes. He wasn’t really sure what he could say to that, he wasn’t wrong, but there didn’t seem to be a need to point it out and laugh at it like some spectacle. That’s when you decided to approach and intervene, taking your place by your brother’s side and warning the others off.

“You don’t have to waste any more of your time, I’ve got it from here,” you said with a sarcastic smile, knowing he wouldn’t reject the offer.

Flash grumbled, walking away from the two of you and taking his little group of bystanders with him. Peter gave you an awkward look, shifting his weight from foot to foot, unsure of what was to happen now. You watched him and sighed, thinking of how much time you could have saved over the years if he wasn’t getting caught in these situations, if he wasn’t so Peter. But, if you were to admit it, you wouldn’t change him.

I’ve seen you skating. You’re pretty shit.”

    Fuck off,” he shot back.

You laughed, patting his shoulder and bringing him into your side as you ruffled his hair. You walked with him outside of the school and collected his skateboard from the side of the building. Peter took it off your hands to let you grab your own, stepping on his in sync with you, and skating off the school grounds.

When you arrived back at your apartment building, you dragged Peter’s bag off his back and dropped yours to the ground alongside it. You whacked his hand causing the skateboard to drop from his hands and Peter to glare at you in anger.

    “Why?”

“Get back on, you have some learning to do,” you said nonchalantly, trying to keep a neutral expression as Peter’s face lit up in appreciation, “And next time Flash says something, just pretend it’s me—you don’t seem to mind telling me to ‘fuck off’” you laughed, mounting your skateboard.
