A deck focused on sacrificing creatures for value, such as a black sacrifice deck or an aristocrats-style deck, would benefit from including Merciless Executioner. While Merciless Executioner is a solid choice for its cost and effect, a potentially better alternative could be Fleshbag Marauder, which has a similar effect but leaves behind a body on the battlefield. Whether Merciless Executioner should see play ultimately depends on the specific strategy and synergies of the deck in question.
