A deck that focuses on creature tokens and tapping creatures for mana would benefit from including Martyr's Soul, as it can be cast efficiently with convoke and can enter the battlefield as a potentially powerful creature with +1/+1 counters. However, there may be better options for similar effects in white, such as Benalish Marshal, which provides a static anthem effect to all creatures, or Adanto Vanguard, which offers a resilient and aggressive threat. Whether Martyr's Soul sees play would depend on the specific strategy and synergies of the deck in question.

When calculating a spell’s total cost, include any alternative costs, additional costs, or anything else that increases or reduces the cost to cast the spell. Convoke applies after the total cost is calculated. Convoke doesn’t change a spell’s mana cost or converted mana cost.

If you control any tapped lands as Martyr’s Soul enters the battlefield, its last ability doesn’t trigger at all. If you control any tapped lands as the ability resolves, you won’t put two +1/+1 counters on Martyr’s Soul.
