  • On October 28, we proudly hosted our OneRocheMY Pink October event, dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer. In partnership with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA), the event brought together around 200+ employees for a day of learning, engagement, and support in the fight against breast cancer. A major highlight was the educational talk led by BCWA, which emphasised the importance of self-breast examination. BCWA also conducted Clinical Breast Examinations (CBE) for over 100 female employees, empowering them with essential knowledge for early detection. We were privileged to have Dr. Arnil George, Consultant Clinical Oncologist from Prince Court Medical Centre, who shared his expertise regarding breast cancer disease and the financial realities faced by patients on their journey through diagnosis and treatment, helping us understand the disease beyond the clinical aspects. Adding to the day’s activities, we hosted a Pink Bazaar within our office, featuring local vendors who offered a variety of health-focused and homemade products — from handmade cosmetics and home-baked goods to refreshing kombucha, all creating an inspiring, community-focused atmosphere. Quiz contest and photo contest were organised after the talk that have sparked the enthusiasm and knowledge of employees to helped make the day both educational and enjoyable. Together, we continue to stand united in making a difference!

  • We were privileged to be invited to support Beacon Hospital’s efforts in organising a lung cancer patient celebration event entitled ‘Creating More Years of Unforgettable Moments’. This event was indeed a special one for Roche Malaysia as the patients shared with us stories of how they were able to achieve their dreams, be present through the milestones of their children and living their live to the fullest while on treatment. A feat that is nothing short of amazing! We were truly inspired to continue doing what patients need next and continue to see more patients living their lives fully while on treatment, creating positive impact not only within their families but also their community.

Last week, we joyfully celebrated lung cancer patients who have triumphantly surpassed three years of survival on Targeted Therapy treatment. This meaningful event, supported by Roche Malaysia, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early lung cancer detection and to highlight the significance of patients' quality of life. Engaging panel discussion featuring esteemed speakers, including Dato' Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Medical Director and Clinical Oncologist at Beacon Hospital, alongside En Ronny Halim, an inspiring Indonesian lung cancer survivor who is now in his seventh-year post-diagnosis, accompanied by his wife and translator as well as Ms. Deepti Saraf, General Manager of Roche Malaysia. The session was moderated by Ms. Suzainur, a Medical Writer at MIMS. En Ronny and other survivors candidly shared their emotional journey and the challenges they faced during treatment. The celebration concluded with a delightful cake-cutting and balloon-popping ceremony, followed by a networking session that brought together oncologists and guests to foster connection and support.

  • Roche Malaysia was honored to be one of the sponsors for the World Patient Safety Day event hosted by Institut Kanser Negara (IKN) that took place on 1st October 2024, aligning with this year’s theme “Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety” and the slogan “Get it Right, Make it Safe”. The event brought together patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals to engage in discussions and activities focused on enhancing patient safety. This was also an acknowledgement of the hospital efforts in achieving the Malaysia Patient Safety Goals 2.0. As patient safety in Roche, we are committed to contributing to Goal #3 Medication Safety and Goal #7 Incident Report and Learning System, through our pharmacovigilance efforts. We believe that patient empowerment is an important aspect in healthcare, and there are opportunities for us to further that. During the event, we shared the patient empowerment booklet that emphasized the importance of patients taking an active role in their treatment journey. We received many direct feedback on the contents of the booklet and this affirms our direction in raising patient safety in Malaysia. The interactions with patients and healthcare professionals were insightful and offered us valuable learnings on patient behavior and patient’s understanding on medication safety. Our involvement in this event truly demonstrates our unwavering commitment to patient safety, with patients at the forefront of everything we do. We look forward to future opportunities in furthering the impact to patients. #WorldPatientSafetyDay #PatientSafety #WPSD2024
