English is the only available language for MAL support; we are unable to answer inquiries in any other languages. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Password Recovery
If you are unable to login to your account, please follow the steps which apply to you.
I know my registered email and have access to it
Please go here and request a new password. If it does not arrive to your inbox after several minutes, please check your spam/junk folders. If the password still does not arrive (Hotmail, Live, and Outlook email domains), please click the "contact customer support" button and fill out the form including "I know my registered email and have access, but the email does not arrive" at the top of the inquiry.
I don't remember my registered email
Please go here and select "I do not remember the email address registered on my MAL account". An email will be sent to your provided email address with a hint to your registered email. If it does not arrive to your inbox after several minutes, please enter a different email address.
I know my registered email, but do not have access to it
Please go here and select "I cannot use the email address registered on my MAL account anymore". The form will use your old password (if your account is still locked from May 2018) and other information from your device to verify your identity. If the form succeeds, you will be sent a new password to your provided email within several minutes.
No email arrives after completing the form
Please check your spam/junk folders. If it's not there, please enter a different email address. Hotmail, Live, and Outlook email domains often have problems receiving our emails.
The email says the form cannot verify my identity
The form uses your last login information, so please:
- try completing the form with all of your devices (mobile, desktop, tablet)
- try at all possible locations (work, home, school)
- ensure your last password is correct by checking your browser settings for saved passwords (e.g. chrome://settings/passwords in Chrome)
I tried all my devices, at all locations, and still cannot get a new password
Please collect any information that we could use to verify your identity. This includes:
- receipts from MAL Supporter payments or Manga Store purchases
- other email addresses or social media accounts (Steam, Twitch, Reddit, Discord, Twitter, Last.fm) that you have written publicly on your MAL account ("Also Available At").
Once you have this information, please click the "contact customer support" button and fill out the form, write "I do not have access to my registered email and the form won't help me" at the top, and include all of this information in your inquiry.
Two Factor Authentication (2FA)
We recommend to increase your account security by enabling a second verification step after your password. To activate or deactivate this feature, please follow the instructions on the account settings page.
I lost access to the authentication app on my smart device
When you enabled 2FA, you were given 5 backup codes to save in a safe place. If you've lost access to the authentication app on your smart device, you can use one of these backup codes to log in. When prompted to enter the 6-digit app code, click "enter an unused backup code instead". Please note that each backup code can only be used once.
I lost access to the app and my backup codes
If you cannot log in because you lost access to both the app and your backup codes, please click the "contact customer support" button and fill out the form using your registered email address. Write "I cannot access my 2FA app and lost my backup codes" at the top, and include any other information we can use to verify your identity in your inquiry.
Account Deletion
All account deletion requests are permanent. You cannot reactivate a deleted account or recover any account information after requesting a deletion. This includes purchased manga, MAL supporter status, anime/manga lists, private messages, and more.
You must save any information you would like to keep before requesting the deletion. Forum posts made by you will remain as "removed_user", so please manually delete any you would like erased.
I know my registered email and have access to it
Please go here after saving any information you would like to keep.
The form says my entered email is invalid
Note that you cannot delete your account through the above link if your account:
- is currently banned or has been banned in the past (you will need to contact customer support)
- has changed its email address in the last 30 days (please wait before requesting a deletion)
- is a MAL supporter (you can cancel your Supporter status here)
No email arrives after completing the form
Please check your spam/junk folders. If it's not there and you are confident you entered the correct email address, please click the "contact customer support" button and fill out the form.
I know my registered email, but do not have access to it
Please follow the steps below.
I can log in to my account
Go to your account settings and update your registered
email to a valid one. Please note you will need to wait 30 days before deleting your account using the link
above as a safety measure.
I cannot log in to my account
Please click the "contact customer support" button and fill out the form. After the necessary identity
verification procedures are completed, we will delete your account within 30 days and inform you by email.
Please do not change your login information (username, email) during this time or it may delay the process.
Android & iOS Apps
The official MyAnimeList app is now available for Android and iOS smartphones. As of November 2020, the app is in the first phase of development and will be continuously expanded with time.

API
MyAnimeList has released a public API which allows you to send and retrieve data without using the MAL website. To use the API, you must first provide information about your application and obtain a client ID. You can do this in the API tab of your profile settings (MAL account required).
Our customer support team will not provide answers to technical questions about the API or how to use it. For inquiries, bug reports, and other support, please use the MAL API Club.
Bug Reports & Technical Errors
To report bugs, please use our Support Forum. Before creating a new topic, please read the Support Board Rules thread for more information on how to report problems. This includes, for example:
- Anime/Manga List problems
- Image upload errors
- Display problems
- Statistics errors
- HTML 500/400/XXX errors
- Unable to send/receive private messages
Abuse Reports (Users, Images, Posts, etc.)
On all pages with user content, there are "Report" links; please use these to report abuse and other problems which do not meet our Site Guidelines. "Report" links are located:
- User profile: top-right corner of the page
- Profile comment: below each comment
- Private Messages: below each message
- Forum: bottom-right of each post
- Club: bottom of the main club page
- Database images: below each image on the "Pictures" tab
You can also submit a general Abuse Report if the issue is larger than a single instance.
