GrandView August Newsletter

Greetings from Don and Valarie
Hello Campers,

September is upon us! We smile as we recall an old chestnut, or quirky word of wisdom: "Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end the faster it goes." This is definitely true of camping season. We actually feel very grateful GrandView is open until October 31st, so we can continue to look forward to a couple more months to welcome our campers... both the new faces and those we've welcomed many times.

We'll really be buzzing on Labor Day weekend... in fact, we are now 100% full! If you'd been thinking of calling but haven't there is the option of being put on a waiting list in case there is a cancellation.

With that in mind, you might want to make a reservation for Indigenous People Weekend... aka Columbus Day Weekend. We have very few sites left. We also have a wedding party renting the whole campground for the weekend of Oct 21-23... so opportunities are running low... don't delay to secure a site for Fall camping NOW, while sites are available.

And for our Girls Weekend ladies we're getting excited about this year's special getaway... our 10th ANNUAL GIRLS WEEKEND! Can you believe it? Our theme is "It's About Time," which is fitting... as we will be experience a virtual time machine of fun, laughter, music and special activities. More info is below.

Well... "time's a' flyin' " so we've got to get back to work! Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Don and Valarie

Local Treasures and Attractions
Goodspeed Opera House: The Opera House was originally built by a local merchant and banker, William Henry Goodspeed. Construction began in 1876 and finished in 1877. Despite the name, it was not in fact an opera house, but rather a venue for presenting plays. Its first play, Charles II, opened on October 24, 1877. After William Goodspeed's death in 1882, the opera house fell into disrepair, facing a series of less glamorous uses—from a militia base during World War I to a general store and a Department of Transportation storage facility.
