New Golf Cart Law In Florida Affects Teen Drivers
I always get nervous when I see kids, even teenagers, driving golf carts. A new law in the state of Florida was passed on Sunday that addresses this issue related to golf carts.
There are many communities around our Tampa Bay community where golf carts are prevalent. I see them on Davis Islands, Highland Park, which is near Westchase, downtown Dunedin…just to name a few.
You always worry about golf carts potentially getting in car accidents with automobiles on the road. The thought is terrifying.
Well, this new law requires teens to have a learner’s permit or a driver’s license in order to operate a golf cart.
I’m all in favor of this. Prior to this law going into affect, 14-year-olds were permitted to drive golf carts on public roads. That seems crazy. Doesn’t it? Especially when you take into consideration all the safety features golf carts are lacking when compared to automotive vehicles. There are no doors, seatbelts or air bags in golf carts.
Our friends at News Channel 8 talked to golf cart owners/drivers on Davis Islands dot find out they’re feedback.
Doctors and medical professionals have witnessed an uptick in golf cart injuries in recent years.
Penalties Under the New Florida Golf Cart Law
So with this new Florida law in place, what will happen if somoene under the age of 15 (without a learner’s permit) is caught driving a golf cart? They will be issued a non-criminal traffic infraction. The fine will be up to $10.
This new Florida law works to keep teens and kids safe in golf carts.

You Can't Drive In Florida If You Have A License From These 4 States
There are so many new Florida law’s that went into affect. One of the most controversial ones is the permit-less carry. Florida residents are now allowed to carry without a concealed weapons permit. We just hope everyone understands that weapons should only be used if you feel your life is in danger. Not for road rage, an argument etc. Another recently passed law affects drivers from other states. Did you know you can’t drive in Florida with certain states licenses?
One of the new laws that we’re just finding out about is the one where, It’s illegal to drive if you have a certain drivers license. This is the law where drivers from certain states may have trouble driving through Florida. On July 1st the law went into affect and now certain people may have trouble driving here.
This is all apart of Florida’s new immigration bill signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Out-of-state driver’s licenses issued exclusively to ‘unauthorized immigrants’ are no longer valid. This bill also forces some of the toughest penalties and restrictions in the country.
Florida law enforcement will use routine traffic stops to verify valid or invalid licenses. Out-of-state drivers with the outlined restrictions may receive a citation. These citations will be a criminal offense in Florida and will possibly carry jail time. Jail time or a fine. More states are being reviewed and could be added to the list in the forthcoming months. Monitor their website for updates.
On July 1st, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles specifically banned the following licenses as not being valid for federal identification. Below are the 4 states, are you shocked by this list? Do you agree with the new bill? Feel free to let us know on social media!
