Details

Kona Skatepark was built 1977 and is the world’s oldest Skatepark and is in the 2014 edition of Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest surviving skatepark. Kona Skatepark 40th Anniversary Celebration was in 2017.

Kona skatepark was featured in the fourth edition of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game. The park is since 1979 privately owned by the Ramos family.

In addition to common elements of a skatepark like miniramps(a lot of them!) and bowls, there is also an old school snake run and a vert ramp which is one of the best in Florida. It has been said that the invention of the modern “Vert” ramp was done here in Kona Skate Park. Tony Hawk has won a number of contest in the vert ramp. In 2011 he did a demo with the Birdhouse team and lost a tooth when he had a collision with Kevin Staab doing “doubles”.
