In terms of land size, it is the largest province on the Zamboanga Peninsula. Dipolog City is its capital. Zamboanga del Norte is known as the Twin-City Province because of the beauty and charm of the Orchid City of Dipolog and the historic, rustic quaintness of the Shrine City of Dapitan.
Zamboanga del Norte is also known for Dakak Park and Beach Resort, the province’s most popular nature destination. Dakak Beach is well-known for its beautifully sculpted cove and pure white sand, as well as being a diving paradise in Mindanao.
Zamboanga Del Norte is predominantly a farming province. Rice, coconut, and fish are its main products. Fish processing, particularly sardine processing, has become a key source of income for many people in the province.

- Kahimunan Festival – January (Butuan City)
This week-long festival, held every third week of January, has drawn enthusiasts and tourists alike. While the celebration is strongly identified with the Santo Nio, its indigenous origins are seen in the derivation of “kahimunan,” a Manobo verb that means “to gather.” It also refers to a set of rites done by Agusan’s lumadnon at the commencement of the planting season and is also known as the full moon festival. Chanting, singing, and playing indigenous musical instruments such as gimbor (drums), gong, and bamboo percussions such as kalatong/karatong and kotik are part of the rite. - Balanghai Festival May – (Butuan City)
The Balanghai Festival is held annually in Butuan, Agusan del Norte, to commemorate what happened to the early transients who arrived in the Butuan region on board the Balangay boats. There are several city-wide events, such as a city-wide craftsmanship show for nearby craftsmen, a few move troops participating in the Balanghai parade, performing theater groups reenacting the landing of the Balangay ships from neighboring clans, and sensational reenactments of inborn questions prompting the development of barangays. - Adlaw Hong Butuan – August (Butuan City)
Adlaw Hong Butuan is a celebration of Butuan City’s founding anniversary. The Adlaw Hong Butuan showcases the city’s culture through road parties, spectacular exhibitions, motorcades, and a procession of entertainers and colorful buoys.
