Tributes pour in from campers as Fortnite’s Heavy Sniper gets mercilessly vaulted

Fortnite heavy sniper vaulted

The Heavy Sniper, one of the game’s best long-range rifles, is going to be vaulted. According to Fortnite leaker Hypex, the gun will be removed and will not be available for players to use in any mode – much to the dismay of Fortnite fans around the world.

Upon hearing the news, tributes flooded in on Twitter (mainly from campers) about the beloved weapon, which found an audience thanks to its powerful damage profile and decent scope. One Fortnite fan wrote: “R.I.P. Heavy Sniper”, while another tweeted: “They vault snipers and bring them back way too much. Make up your mind.”

Another added: “What a minute They vaulted my beloved??? What a JOKE.”

Using the Heavy Sniper took some getting used to and required a lot of skill. To down an enemy, you’d need to compensate for travel time and bullet drop. To eliminate targets further away, you’d need to aim higher, while if a target was moving, you’d need to aim in front of them and time your shot to perfection.

The Heavy Sniper Rifle used to be one of the strongest weapons in Fortnite Battle Royale. Epic Games first released it in Chapter 1 – Season 5, allowing players to one-shot structures with the weapon.

The long-range weapon hasn’t gone through a lot of changes over the past few years, but it’s been vaulted and vaulted several times. When Epic brought it back in Chapter 4, many players were excited to use it. Unfortunately, the Heavy Sniper Rifle was drastically nerfed several times and eventually vaulted.

In Chapter 4 – Season 2, Epic Games added the sniper glare to the popular weapon, making it less effective. Epic also nerfed the weapon in the current Fortnite season, lowering its structures to damage by four times. The weapon used to deal up to 690 damage to structures, but its damage was lowered all the way to 173 with the latest hotfix.

The Heavy Sniper Rifle was replaced by the Explosive Repeater Rifle, which has the potential to be one of the deadliest weapons in the game.

It’s not all bad news, though. The fan-favourite pump shotgun is returning to Fortnite – albeit a nerfed version of it. As revealed by Hypex, the pump shotgun will have a tight spread of fire, be long range and is expected to a have reduced Headshot Damage at Legendary Rarity.
